Floating Sensations Spa — Local services in Providence

I've kind of let thins sink in awhile (hah, no pun intended!) I usually don't leave a review if I've only been once and I'm on the fence, but I don't think I'll be going back. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either. I think I went in expecting similar results compared to a massage. I left probably more tense muscularly, though a bit more mentally relaxed. I can see how this could be relaxing but for my first time it was anything but. A lot of it must be mental, if you can let go and relax. I struggled with that here. The water is room temperature, so I was cold. The salt stings a bit, especially when it gets in your eyes. I had to spray myself in the face to flush the salt from my eyes a few times. I struggled hooking my phone up and controlling the volume of the music. Really, I just felt like a kid in the bathtub, it was fun to try something new. It's neat how buoyant you are in the salt water. I feel like you can get a similar experience, and maybe a more relaxing one at home with some candles and a warm bath - or in a hot tub - or floating in a swimming pool that only costs a few dollars. The salt is messy and the room didn't feel clean. The shower was ok, but similar. The blow-dry station is in the main lobby so if you want to fix your hair or anything afterwards you're right there with other people, that was very awkward & uncomfortable. I had swimmers ear for about a week afterward, some water must have snuck by the earplugs. The signage could be better, I didn't know it was upstairs and was wondering around the recovery center trying to find it. I must have missed a sign somewhere. It is neat and an unusual place, the people were friendly and I wish them all the best. My experience was more a "comedy of errors", It just...

I use Floating Sensations on a weekly basis. The staff is amazing, the environment is clean and relaxing. The float tank and the Zero Gravity massage chairs are just what I need to relax, unwind, and just plain feel whole again. I recommend the float first, followed by the Gravity massage chair after, but that's just personal preference. I've tried both ways, and either way it's great. The float tank in particular offers the user many different ways to create each experience different the last. For instance, I've done some meditation during one float, and on another session I did some stretching and yoga poses that added a weightless aspect, creating a deeper level of relaxation and stretching because of the water supporting the weight. I tried the salt float for my anniversary. I have done lots of things. Massages, cryochambers, physical therap, etc... I'm just recovering from tearing both forearm tendons. I did the 60 min soak. They make it very comfortable for you and let you shower beforehand. Make sure you don't wear any colognes, deodorant, lotions, hair products, etc. You're able to load your own phone up to he tub so you can jam anything you like. After the soak I was so relaxed and my arms felt so good, as soon as I got dressed I also jumped into a 20 minute chair massage (If you like a deep massage, jump in the chair closest to the flower wall) I'm 6"1 and 250lbs, I have never been stretched and manhandled like that by any masseuse.
