Pier 49 Pizza — Restaurant in Providence

Pier 49 used to be one of our favorite pizza places. I believe they’re under new ownership in the last year or so. The quality of the pizza and the service has taken a serious nosedive in our experience. Just went for the first time in 4 months to give it another try and it wasn’t any better unfortunately. They got our order wrong, forgot toppings that are supposed to be on the pizza we ordered. When I asked about it the worker had no idea what was supposed to be on that pizza and had to go check to see. The toppings that were on the pizza were sparse to say the least. The pizza was basically uncut. We had to get a plastic knife to cut the slices ourselves. And overall just nowhere near as good as it used to be. The cheese bread came out 15 minutes after the pizza, completely charred. It had been over cooked so much the cheese had almost completely disintegrated. It never used to be like that. The only reason I gave two stars was because I like the pizza. However, the continued horrible customer service is the reason I am writing this review. Multiple times we have waited for our food longer than anticipated, missing movies even after planning over an hour to eat. Last night was the final straw. We arrived one hour before closing and was told it was an half hour and the employees wanted to be out the door right at ten. We told them we were aware of its closing time and would eat quickly. Fifty minutes later we still had not received our pizza and no one told us what was happening with our order. Upon going to the front desk I was told they just put the pizza in the oven! The three employees did not seem to care at all. After I asked them to box our food, it came out very quickly. It appeared as if they purposefully delayed our food just so we would leave when they wanted us to. Right when we entered they started trying to convince us not to get anything, even though we had plenty of time...

Went there last week and actually liked it enough to try it again tonight. Big mistake.

The exact same pizza we got last week was twice as much as it cost last time we ordered it despite double checking over the phone that the special was still valid. It gets better.

After getting the pizza and going back to the car we naturally wanted some and after one bite each noticed the bottom was overcooked at best (it was burnt to the point of tasting like cardboard). Well, no big deal right? Satisfaction guaranteed like the website advertises right? WRONG.

We took it back and rather than working through the issue with us, the guy working it pulled open the box, lifted it with his bare hand and had the audacity to tell me, "that is exactly what a thin crust pizza is supposed to look like".
