Around 10pm Friday June 27th me and my wife came to box car as our annual ritual for our anniversary on how we first met
I tried to park directly in front of Boxcar in an empty spot.
The hot dog stand man in front of your business blocked me from parking, and said the manager from Boxcar needs to park there and that I cannot park there. I know for a fact Boxcar nor any other establishment owns street parking spots in Raleigh. Luckily the person in front of me waves me down and lets me take their parking spot.
As I am about to walk into Boxcar I walk up to the hotdog stand man cause I’m curious if he’s full of it. I ask him who the manager was. He said whoever is inside, even though a security guard working for boxcar walks out the exact car that took that spot looking at me with the most pettiest face that can be.
I walk into the establishment, and request to talk to the manager. Her name is Lindsay, someone who I met before and was very nice or so I thought.
I tell her “the hot dog stand man outside is holding parking spots on the streets which is open for the public using y’all business name and your position.” I brought it up to her attention to let her know in case she didn’t already know, and she looked at me like I was the devil.
She says “well I don’t know who you are, and there are many managers here.” She was very frustrated, for no reason, and proceeds to talk to the bartender beside her at the register. She put her hands up as if I attacked her verbally and disrespectfully. I was simply trying to let her know people are using her position and the business name to discourage customers to park outside your establishment. I am unsure why she acted like I was being disrespectful. I order our drinks and within 20 seconds the security guy talks to Lindsay, and then asks us to leave because apparently we were “cussing” at the bartender.
Me and my wife are appalled, and for the sake of not causing a scene we just left.
LET ME MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR. I have been in the industry for 12+ years in many different states and areas both big and small establishments and I have never been treated in such disrespectful fashion especially from a “manager”. Nor would I disrespect any staff in the food and bev because I love and respect this industry.
If Lindsay is having a bad day, that’s fine. Don’t take it out on the customers that are simply trying to give you a heads up about something.
100 percent will never...
Read moreBoxcar was trying to kick me out the other day because they thought my foreign ID that had my picture , and birthday and name that matched my old North Carolina ID was fake. Because of some ALE law that didn’t even pertain to people from outside the states who have a legal right to be inside a bar. I’ve never felt so discriminated in my entire life especially in my hometown all because I was born outside of the us and used my foreign ID because my North Carolina one expired. Whether your bartenders were worried about providing me service although they could have easily scanned my ID , them and the security guards protrayed xenophobia and I’m absolutely disgusted because I was able to be inside the bar a few months back.
To reply to the reply from Boxcar, I’ve already talked to whoever is in charge by foreign I meant it had a different layout than your average NC ID. It was still government issued and an acceptable form of ID for everything you need to do. It was state issued by the government. Nonetheless boxcar security and bartenders aren’t getting repercussions for their terrible rude actions and that’s a shame. Fix your staff who “let me in just because” and then decided to try to bombard me with security to escort me out.
Update: We’re in 2024 and this boxcar is still trash. Not sure why your bartenders are ridiculously rude. If you’re traveling, the one in Durham so is much better and worth the drive. Maybe try shutting the one...
Read moreI love the boxcar in Durham and thought I would get the same experience with this location. Not! I came here with the intentions of bringing my best friend birthday in with some drink and fun games…..but Lindsay the bartender caused for things to go differently. I’ve never had a bartender stand right in my face as I’m situating how Im going to pay. She didn’t question if I may wanted to open a tab, and rudely told me that me and my friend “should have figured this out before we ordered” as we were situating things. At that moment I felt a way as a paying customer because I’ve never experienced a bartender rush for me to pay especially when I didn’t even touch anything she poured. Hence I understand the transaction doesn’t need to be long, but her attitude & remarks towards us was uncalled for. In addition to that as I am cash apping my friend for her to pay she walks away, come back with an attitude asking where we ready yet & rudely snatches our shots away as I was waiting on the person I cash appd to pay. For someone like me who spends plenty of money going out, making sure to leave good tips, and work in the service/bar industry this was very uncalled for and it should have never went this way. I was never rude to Lindsay until she gave unprovoked bad customer service to me and my friends and the disrespect I felt from this situation was surreal. To my AA sistas & brothers, spend your...
