Decent park that's generally well populated during the warmer times of year. Very large grassy expanse for children to run in, right next to a bike check out station (at bus station next door). Pay parking lot nearby for weekdays and I think free on weekends. Also, often free food and supplies for those who need them. (see below)
For those who need food (or resources) Saturdays 3-5 PM Food Not Bombs (a community empowerment group) has hot meals, toiletries, and community resources and Clothes not Bombs (an offshoot) has clothes and takes clothing requests. All free! They're always right next to each other on the sidewalk near the parking lot Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 6 PM (during spring daylight savings, 5 PM during Fall) Love Wins free hot food Monday 5 PM (about) free hot food Wednesday 7 - 9 PM (hours vary slightly) just inside bus station, free hot food
The 4 as opposed to 5 stars are for the times that park officials/cops have attempted to interfere with giving food to people. I've also seen park staff harass protest groups on several occasions which, seeing as they were for human rights causes, gives this place a lower rating.
Random Note : Bus drivers are all super sweet ❤️
Other Note : I've noticed many of the lower reviews mention the local Houseless population as a reason not to go here because people are scared, etc. There's nothing to fear! I've talked with several of the people there and they're super sweet. We're just taught to fear people who have less and to think of them as "dirty" or "dangerous" because otherwise we'd be angry that fellow human begins aren't able to have basic food and shelter and would start asking why that is when we're one of the richest countries in the world. But the local residents are all super sweet and if you talk to them you'll realize this...
Read moreMoore Square is truly one of the best spots in Raleigh and has something special for everyone. The park itself is beautifully designed with plenty of open space, shaded areas, and well-kept grounds that make it perfect for a walk, picnic, or simply relaxing. There are fun games and activities set up around the park that families and kids love, which adds to the lively and welcoming atmosphere. The surroundings are vibrant, and on many days you’ll find a variety of food trucks offering delicious options that really enhance the experience. Beyond visiting as a guest, I’ve also had the privilege of being a vendor during events at Moore Square. The energy here is always so positive, and the community support makes it one of the most rewarding places I’ve ever participated in as a vendor. It’s not just a park, but a gathering place where people connect, enjoy, and create...
Read moreThe remodel of Moore Square is great. Love the open fields, the clean pathways, the landscaping. Especially appreciate the attention to detail and keeping the old historical oak tree is intact. The new square burger shop on the south and is a nice touch.
