TLDR - I will never be going back here again.
I don’t normally get nail designs; when I get my nails done I usually just get a gel mani of one color for like 35 dollars (elsewhere) but I wanted to get something special for Pride & some friends have recommended getting designs done here so I went for it, knowing I would spend a bit more but willing to do that for a special occasion. So I went & showed the nail tech a couple of pictures of what I had in mind - a sort of rainbow watercolor look. First, she says she can’t do that, my nails are too small, she can do max 2 colors on each nail. I showed her a few pictures of people who also had short nails. She said, okay I can do three colors. Ok. Yellow is my favorite color & I really wanted to include it, but the way she wanted to color the watercolor look was with an eyeshadow-like powder, not with polishes, so there were only a handful of choices. The closest was orange but it didnt really go with any of the other color options well for a trio, so I said no thank you, I'll just do pink/purple/blue. She starts doing my nails & she used an electric file a lot - I'm nervous how fragile my nails will be when this comes off... When she gets to adding the eyeshadowy pigment, she is rubbing it on each one with a plastic eyeshadow applicator & she does the first two nails with pink/purple/blue and then says "are you sure you don’t want more colors?" I'm confused, she told me I could only have three? so I said okay there could be a bit of the green & orange thrown in to make it more of a rainbow. Then she starts putting four colors on each nail & doing like orange/green/purple together on one nail & blending so they look muddy, so I stopped her & said blue/purple/pink could go together, green/blue/purple, purple/pink/orange or just pink/orange- things that could be next to each other in the rainbow go well together. So she did that, & in the end I was pretty happy with how they came out. Very different than I imagined, but still pretty. She filed them after the top coat, which I thought was weird, but I let it go. I paid $70 for "full designs" & I was like alright, sure, and tipped $20 & thanked her and left fairly happy with them. About 12 hours later, there's already one nail peeling. 24 hours & one has a bubble, one is chipped & one has peeled backward entirely & two more are peeling up very slightly. So 5 out of 10 were damaged in 24 hours. I wasn't cleaning with harsh chemicals or scratching things or even had a shower yet with hot water to damage them, just a day at home of typing on a computer.
I went in to ask if they could fix it & I was very anxious, because I've never spent $90 on nails & I've never ever had half of them damaged after one day, & I didn’t have a lot of time before I had to go back to work that night, but I wanted to see what could be done about it. The manager said my nail tech wasn't working that night & he couldn't fix it, he said he could just redo the top coat for me & that was it, but that I would have to wait a bit because he was with someone. He also said he only saw anything wrong with one of the nails, the one that had completely peeled up. I showed him each of the damaged parts & he said "no it looks fine, just one is bad, but I will do a new top coat for you for free"
I waited 10 minutes & just got more & more anxious. The music was much louder than the previous day, & I just felt so dismissed. I asked if I could just get my money back since 5/10 nails were damaged in one day. He said they don’t do any refunds. I was so overstimulated & stressed about the wasted money so I just left. I rearranged my schedule to go back today, & the manager once again said only one of them looked damaged & that the tech would fix it. She could see that others were damaged, so she redid them. She was very kind about it, but the music was so loud, I felt like I was in my own personal hell. Now it is only 6 hours later & the same thumb is coming off again already. What a waste of money. Updated w more chips 6...

My fiance decided to treat me to a pedicure this past Saturday, July 9th. We both ended up getting a pedicure. We have walked past Polish, the one on Glenwood in Raleigh, several times when we take our walks downtown and have said it looks like a place we should visit to get a pedicure done. Well, needless to say, we will not return nor do we recommend it.
We walked in and were seated very quickly for how busy they were. That was the end of anything good or positive to say. The gentleman who seated us at a pedicure station started our water for the service. However, he never came back by to stop the water, to check on us, or anything. I ended up stopping our water from overflowing the tub and starting the bubbles for our feet to soak. Some time later, two ladies, that didn't look like us, walked in and were seated. The same guy who seated us got them started and brought over two glasses of wine moments after they were seated (when you think its about race, it is about race). He continued to pass us by several times afterwards. It was as if it was an afterthought when he asked us did we want anything to drink.
Back to the two ladies who walked in some time after us. Well, a nail tech walked over and sat her things down to do their feet. I raised up and was surely about to say something, mind you she did not even bother to check before she sat her things down. She was corrected by a lady behind the counter and after a few minutes, she brought her things over to us. Another lady joined the nail tech to help out, as she said. I don't think she was on the clock for that day, as she keep saying she was helping out. To get to the the point of it all, they rushed us. Our service was poor. We got the All Out service, which is where they use the foot scrubber. I have done a better job at home. They barely scrubbed my fiance's feet and my feet were rougher afterwards than before. And the polish job, omg, it clearly says rushed. (See pictures attached) I had pink polish on my toes that I did at home, and the lady did a poor job of removing the polish. You can see it on my toes with the new polish. There is also blue polish on the skin of my right big toe, and not to mention the polish is already coming off on one of my toes on my left foot.
To top it all off. I was totally offended, embrassed, and insulted by the music they felt was okay to play in a place of business. They played music the likes of Cardi B, loudly. They played WAP y'all, no joke. The lyrics and use of the n-word and b-word was blasting like it was truly an accepted thing for this place. My fiance and I were two of the three black customers in the business, the rest were white. The lack of professionalism was appalling. I will not be degraded while patronizing a business. Maybe this was an "off" day, not normal for them, but impressions are lasting ones, and the impression I now have has resulted in I won't be back. Not even to have them fix the sloppy job they did.
In response to the owner's reply, evidently you failed to read my review in it's entirety. They did not receive services before us, the lady behind the counter saw it and made it known so it was corrected. The sad part is you didn't even address the poor results of the service or the very inappropriate music I noted in my review. I guess you were offended, too, and needed to justify me calling attention to something. That's what people do when they are called out, try to defend or justify the issue. Thanks for...
Read moreTerrible service over all, do not waste you money here. I called in to get a manicure and a full set in white, simple. They told me to come in and I arrived 10 minutes early. They sat me at the bar in the closest seat to the door and computer. Didn’t think anything of it at first until I realized the person doing my nails would also be the same person answering the phone, receiving and seating customers coming in. Finally after he finished directing his team and sitting more people down he came up to me and asked me what I wanted. I specifically asked for a MANICURE AND A FULL SET. He started to work on my nails and immediately started gluing the tips to follow up with the process of acrylic nails (NEVER got the manicure I asked for) meanwhile he was working on my hands without looking down at the nails half the time. He was too busy greeting costumers, answering the phone and directing his staff on who to sit and work on next. While he was applying the acrylic he was still looking everywhere but at my nails so he was leaving BIG GAPS on the sides of my nails without product, I told him I didn’t like that and I asked him to fill it up with more acrylic but he said it’s ok that way because he’s gonna file it anyway. He didn’t measure my nails so my left and right hand nails were all different sizes and filed slanted to the side. I asked him to file them straight and he said it was because my fingers were crooked that the nails were crooked. He put the clear coat on dried my nails and told me to go wash them then I was done. I couldn’t believe the way he left my hands and said I was good to go, I wanted to Cry. I payed 60 dollars besides the tip I left him. I left the establishment and chose to go back because of all the excess product and extra skin left all over my fingers. When I came in I explained to him I didn’t like the finished product and I wanted to fix it. He blamed me for the crooked nails, gaps and excess product again. Saying they were crooked cause of my finger shape, that the gaps because I chose powder acrylic and the excess product because I didn’t wash my hands right afterwards. He finally filed the nails and added some product to ONLY my thumbs on the side but not the rest he put clear coat again and told me I was finished then sent me to “was my hands correctly” so the excess product comes off. So after the second time I STILL left unhappy. I had to fix them at home and give...
