It should be said, first and foremost, that I don't love going into shopping malls. I spent a decade of my career in retail so they're not particularly high on my list of "favorite places to visit". I called ahead of my visit today to ask where I should park so that I could get in and get out as quickly as possible - I'm fairly certain I actually spoke to Tim on the phone, first, before I encountered him in the store a bit later. I was able to park and head straight into the store. My mission was the self-service Lego person assembly station but I had a few questions about it. After being greeted as soon as I walked in, by both Tim and Tyler, I explained to them my situation: my son is about to turn 6 and I'm throwing him a Lego-themed party. I thought a fun party activity + take-away gift would be to have the children attending the party assemble their own Lego person, basically replicating the self-serve kiosk from the store at the party...just on a much smaller scale. They instructed me to utilize the plastic carrying cases that they package the Lego people in for inventory purposes and so I began to dig. 30 minutes later, I had filled the plastic carrying cases - enough for 12 children to make 1 Lego person each. Tim came back over and asked if I was done and if I'd like him to put my things at the register. I told him I was done at the kiosk but that I had lots of other shopping to do. After spending another 30 minutes picking out 4 additional Lego sets for my son, I told Tim I was ready. He walked me to the register and asked how many children I anticipated having at the party. I told him roughly 12. Then he said "You've done such a nice job picking out pieces for them to put together...but I have a little something extra for you." He proceeded to gift me several items for the party, including small paper Lego bags to use as goodie bags for the kids to take with them. While he rang me up, we chatted about my son (first, a lover of Duplo from the time he was old enough to hold a block, now totally obsessed with Lego) and about the baby we have on the way, then about Lego as a company and how it seemed like such a great place to work - he confirmed, it was. It's 6 hours later as I'm writing this review and I'm still just totally overwhelmed by his kindness, his professionalism, and his love for what he does. I believe that Lego is more than just a toy - it's a teaching tool. It's people like Tim, carrying out the Lego mission, that ensure that the next generation of children playing with Lego blocks are thinking critically, using their imaginations, and dreaming big. I hope Tim knows how much of an impact he made today - keep up the incredible work, Crabtree Valley Mall team! I'll definitely...
Read moreMy husband & I made a stop on our way home from vacation to hit this specific Lego Store. We had a good chunk of money left over after our vacation & planned to get a couple specific sets & had some extra money after that to possibly get some others depending on what they had. When we got there the store had a line & were only letting a very small amount of people in the store at one time despite there being tons of room still in the store. We both felt very rushed and as tho we were not able to actually look at what all was there. And we were far from the only ones. We both heard numerous families in the store telling each other to hurry up that they couldn't look around because there was a long line waiting to get in.
That store missed out on so many impulse buys & everyone felt so rushed & like we were a hindrance to the workers for being there, not to mention they were splitting up family groups. I saw one woman come up trying to reach her husband who was already in the store because they had an emergency with their child. The worker overseeing the line wouldn't let her in because the "maximum occupancy that they would prefer" was reached.
It was very disappointing & we'll for sure be sticking to the Charlotte store...
Read moreIncredible! Everything was Awesome. Hard not to sing the song while you're in the store. The displays are phenomenal. It will definitely inspire your imagination and creativity. Beyond all the many themes and sets (Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, Preschool, fantasy, towns, vehicles), they have an entire wall of Pick and Build. It's full of individual pieces; all different colors, shapes and sizes. You even build your own minifigure. The staff (or Brick Specialists) were great to interact with customers. While I was there, one Brick Specialist was building something on a display table. Each store seems unique and they are always adding new sets. I enjoy go through any Lego store I find; I've seen life-size lego man on a horse fighting a dragon, and all sorts of stuff. Worth the time to at least walk through. There is also a VIP...
