TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
I usually never write reviews, but I felt compelled to share this experience because no one should be treated the way I was — especially when you're simply trying to enjoy a service meant for relaxation and self-care.
I had a deep tissue massage booked with Jackie and was immediately met with rudeness and a visible attitude. Her tone of voice was loud and harsh — completely the opposite of the calm, soothing energy you expect at a spa. Within the first few minutes, I could already tell this was going to be a terrible experience. I politely asked her not to use too much oil and specifically requested that she avoid getting any in my hair. Despite that, she proceeded to use an excessive amount and drenched the bottom of my hair near my neck with oil — a clear sign she wasn’t listening or didn’t care.
The massage itself was fast-paced, erratic, disorganized, and lacked any meaningful pressure. It felt more like a rushed Swedish massage than a deep tissue. I was tense the entire time — never relaxed. Jackie never once checked in with me until the very end, when she briefly asked about the pressure just minutes before the session ended. To make things worse, she had long nails that made parts of the massage uncomfortable. Her movements were aggressive and careless, yanking covers and repositioning my body with no care or communication. At one point, she spent what felt like 20 minutes massaging the same foot with one hand, which made me suspect she was using her phone during the session. When I tried to express that the pressure wasn’t working for me, Jackie snapped and told me I should just book a man next time. That comment was unprofessional, inappropriate, and completely unacceptable. She was also sniffing her nose throughout the massage which led me to believe she had an active cold. I left the massage not only stressed but also with neck pain that lasted for hours afterward. Again, I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was so disappointing and upsetting that I don’t want anyone else to go through the same. I would not recommend Jackie or this spa to anyone looking for a professional or...
Read moreI hosted a surprise party wedding shower for my daughter at The Fountain Spa in Ramsey last week and it was absolutely fantastic. Let me tell you, I'm not a person who's ever even been to a spa so this was a big undertaking. Linda Madsen really helped pave the way to make this a success. She coordinated with me all the guests' services, went over ideas on what type of snacks to have for everyone, and helped me plan the day from top to bottom. Diana was assigned to be our group's hospitality attendant for our private POD party for the day and she went above and beyond to make the day special for each of our partygoers. The Fountain Spa provided OJ for mimosas, tea, coffee, sparkling water and bottled water. Diana was on top of it at all times making sure everyone had what they needed as far as refreshments and helped guide all of my partygoers around the spa. And finally, a big shout out to Isabella on the front desk. One of my biggest concerns for the party was making sure it was a surprise for my bride-to-be daughter. My guests arrived to decorate and set up our pre-treatment bagels and muffins an hour before I got there with my daughter and I was so worried the surprise would be blown when we checked in at the front desk, but Isabella deserves an Academy Award for her skills. She was flawless in asking our names and checking us in for our prescheduled services, never letting on she knew exactly who we were and that the other eight members of our group had already arrived. Linda made sure to clue the staff in on the fact it was a surprise for our guest of honor and it truly showed. I'm still so elated about how the surprise wedding shower went that I didn't mention my own massage. Ana was my masseuse for my very first massage in my life and it was fantastic. We had our treatments soon after we yelled surprise so I was brimming over with adrenaline. When my massage was over and I was sliding on my slippers I felt like Gumby...just totally relaxed and ready to enjoy the rest of the party. Needless to say it won't be my last visit to The...
Read moreTerrible experience. Outdated in everything from facility, technique, and service. I had a gift card for spa package so I was there for over 5 hours. First, the attendant gave me my robe and a gown. Gown was to be worn during the facial only but I was required to carry it with me ALL day. Why couldn’t the woman doing my facial give it to me? The waiting area was not relaxing at all. It was noisy bright and stiff chairs. I had a body scrub and mud mask. That was decent. Massage less than mediocre. No time during the services was I offered a drink. After the massage I asked for coffee. They didn’t have any only tea and water. The area with refreshments wasn’t relaxing either. The refreshments were awful just water tea and there terrible muffins, and especially being there for so long a little something would be nice. The lady brings me up there to get tea because they didn’t have coffee and she said but you only have like 5 mins to drink it because you have your facial. Then I go for my facial and it was nothing more than what I do at home with a cleanser mask and some moisturizer. I go back upstairs for lunch. I got the salad which was pretty good actually. Pedicure and manicure was the worst part. I asked for French manicure but a beige base. They didn’t have beige. The woman did a terrible job, had no clue how to do a good French, and got nail polish under my nails and all over my fingers. I had to go home and soak my nails in acetone to get it out. I’m getting ready to leave and most good spas offer products to use such as brushes, blowdryers, etc. their blow dryer was so old like it was 20 years old. Nothing else to use and products were cheap drugstore products like suave. I’ve been to plenty of salons and spas in my life and this was by far the worst. I usually go to depasquale the spa in Morris plains (amazing place), but only reason I went here was because I got it as a gift. Will...
