Looking at toiletries. Stock cart to my right. Was there mere seconds (I have a preteen and was by no means lingering unnecessarily long) when an employee shows up out of nowhere and starts sandwiching me between the cart and herself by walking around to my left w an armload of products. She gets right on top of me, and starts sticking her armpit and hand in my face as she hastily starts plopping products on the self like it was so urgent there was no other choice but to actually physically touch me -nevermind even considering personal space. It was so bad she made contact and actually elbowed me. I look at her, she apologized, but kept doing it anyway. All I'd needed was about 60 seconds to compare two boxes/products and I'd have been done. I also work retail and she was not only being gross and totally inappropriate, but what's even more mindblowing to me is that she reacted as if I was truly crazy and irrational for disliking this whole situation when I spoke up. Her continued dismissive and ridiculous attitude actually resulted in me throwing the armload of products I'd already been carrying to purchase on the shelf and leaving without buying anything for the first time in my life anywhere. Rarely am I that disgusted. Takes a lot. I CANNOT IMAGINE doing this at my job when stocking shelves. Or even while shopping next to a stranger in any store. Not only an extremely rude thing to do, but the lack of common sense you'd have to posess to think this is ok is stunning. It really did get to me. There's absolutely no reason your employees should ever be touching the shoppers or cramming themselves into anyone's space to that...
Read moreI was born and raised in Brooklyn, NJ. I am american. My parents are Americans born in Brooklyn, NY their parents born in Puerto Rico. I have never ever experienced racism before living in NY/NJ and walking into this store my daughter and we were made to feel like thieves while shopping at this store in Ramsey on the evening of November 2, 2018. I love TJ Maxx but I will never shop at this location again. The fitting room attendant treated us like we were there to rip the store off. Counted out our items before and after we left the fitting room while others who were not ethnic walked out without being seen. The check out lady was just as rude and harsh and what made it worse was she was ethnic too. She was impatient and rude and basically shoved my bag in my face without a smile saying "have a good night" like a robot. No warmth behind it...nothing. I have never felt self conscious about being hispanic in my life, always proud but this evening had me thinking wow ethnic people in general are frowned upon. So disappointing to see this corner, this melting pot in the world has taken a...
Read moreA complete disaster. This place desperately needs a makeover. I'm so disappointed with how far this store has fallen. What used to be a clean, well-stocked place with good brands now feels like a war zone. The makeup section was utterly trashed, with open and used products scattered everywhere. It was impossible to find anything sanitary or untouched. The clothing racks were no better, looking more like a rummage sale than an organized retail space. Clothes were out of order, piled high, and it was clear no one had attempted to tidy them. Even the checkout area was filthy and littered with trash, making the entire experience feel disgusting. I truly miss the days when this store carried quality brands and maintained a basic level of cleanliness and order. It's clear that standards have plummeted, and it's a real shame. Avoid unless you're looking for a chaotic, messy, and unsanitary...
