True excellence. We have been supporters of Patagonia for over 2 decades because of their quality goods but more importantly because of their customer service. I showed up at the Reno store about 10 minutes before closing thinking I would drop off a down jacket/hoody that needed repair as lots of feathers were falling out. It turns out the jacket was irreparable. I anticipated taking my jacket back home & using it until I could use it no longer but they, instead, offered me a new Patagonia down hoody-- a nearly $400 value. I had said the issues with my jacket were not Patagonia's fault but more part of wear & tear over time (my jacket was far from new) but all the same they encouraged me to choose a new jacket, & so I did. Amazingly, we ordered the jacket online & it showed up on my doorstep within 48 hours. I didn't love the color so I initiated an exchange & a new jacket was on my doorstep within LESS than 48 hours-- incredible! I love my Patagonia down sweater hoodies & wear them constantly -- camping, walks with the dog, playing in the snow & more. It's light & trim, yet keeps me extremely warm. I don't feel like a Stay Puffed Marshmallow girl with an extremely wide winter jacket. It's worth noting too that the woman who helped me was so patient even when the time it took to inspect my old jacket & order the new jacket kept her late & slowed the closing of the store. Truly an outstanding...
Read moreMuch preferred the prices, selection, and presentation at the Patagonia Outlet's prior location up towards Verdi. The present incarnation is likely more intended to draw customers from tourists frequenting downtown Reno than the harder core outdoor and more budget conscious folks who went to the prior location. The present selection seems to be oriented toward fashion, where the prior location produced some really great buys on serious outdoor technical gear such as, for example, the review acclaimed R1 and R3 fleece. Need a real Patagonia outlet store somewhere in the Reno area and a fashion store convenient to fashion conscious tourists. Thankfully the Reno Sierra Trading Post outlet store is still going strong over by Whole Foods and often has great prices on serious outdoor gear from respected makers. 2021 Update: Visited again. Selection of Outdoor gear much improved at the Store. Good work! City of Reno has installed credit-card parking meters on area streets. So Patrons trying to visit store have to conspicuously pull out wallets at the meters. Meanwhile homeless are panhandling. One came up, face in my face, and apparently tried to read my credit card while I was putting it in the meter, after soliciting me without success. Told him firmly to get lost. He seemed shocked. Hassle to visit the store with this...
Read moreDisappointed. The outlet felt like any other retail location. It's a nice store, nice employees, eco-friendly building, etc. However, not the outlet discount destination I was hoping to find like the North Face outlet store in Berkeley where you can find amazing deals and is always packed. On the other hand, the Patagonia Outlet felt empty and felt like a mall store. I walked in the front door and saw a cool display of clothes, but then find out that the display was their current line of clothes at regular price. Then, the rest of the store was full of nice items that seemed to be discontinued styles or last years fashion, but still at a high price. They had a few bins tucked under the various tables throughout the store with more discounted items, but hardly the stuff I was looking for when shopping. I don't get why they have an "outlet" store tucked away in Reno, Nevada and then try to milk a premium buck from a few racks of last years jackets, shorts, shirts, and pants. Why not sell it at REAL outlet prices, get people talking about it, get some good buzz and PR from it all and make customers like me happy about it and wearing your brand? Instead, whenever Reno comes up in conversation the Patagonia store also comes up as to what a let down place...
