This has been my primary care location for four years. I have seen three different medical professionals at this location in four years (the prior two are no longer at this location). There have been several occasions in which I have had to wait a considerable amount of time beyond my appointment time. Today was one of those days. I had a 9:45 AM appointment for an annual exam. I was in an examination room at my appointment time. However, at 10:15 AM, I left the room to ask if I had been forgotten about because I had not yet seen the medical professional, Dr. Thomas Garner. Dr. Garner came in my room three minutes later. Thus, I had been waiting 33 minutes in the examination room beyond my appointment time and this location asks you to show up 15 minutes before your appointment time. I had the standard five-minute annual exam visit and was then told that I would need to come back in six months for blood work since I am on cholesterol medication. When the employee came back into the examination room, she gave me my after visit summary and stated I needed to come back in six months. I asked why I needed to come back in six months when I have only come once per year the prior three years for blood work. She said the frequency is provider specific. The provider this time, as mentioned previously, was Dr. Thomas Garner. I have been on cholesterol medication for over five years now, and like the visit today, the doctor always says your cholesterol looks good. Why then do I need to have unnecessary blood work done every six months and then have to come back for an office visit one week later for the provider to tell me your cholesterol looks good? Is it not possible to say the latter via MyChart. It would only take Dr. Garner or an assistant approximately 30 seconds to write that message and send it. The evidence suggests that this location/Dr. Garner may be gaming the healthcare system such that you and/or your insurance provider are billed for unnecessary medical tests and/or office visits. Unless you want to visit a location/medical professional that (1) does not value your time and/or (2) you want to support a location/medical professional that might want to bill you and/or your insurance provider for unnecessary tests/appointments, I suggest going to another location/medical professional for your...
Read moreSo I had a lab Tech Try to collect money instead of blood. Money I did not owe ! Follow up appointment was the next week. I go to a regular lab and they requested orders from Dr. The Lab was told it would take time. Dr was busy. In the meantime I call to reschedule my appointment and the receptionist Erica said I couldn't come back for 9 months. Nine months REALLY ! I have been at this practice 2 to 3 times a year for 7 years. A minimum of every 6 month due to needing maintenance medications. It was my understanding that through mychart one could confidentiality message your Doctor. I did that and found out it's not true. I got an ugly call from her nurse Miranda. She read it and was angry. It progresses to my daughter calling because one med was a daily narcotic. They wouldn't refill because I missed my appointment they claimed when they knew that Erica give me a long wait. I was cut off cold turkey. They said Dr Johnson longer wanted to see me and she didn't even want to speak to me. It was very hurtful because I did believe she cared for me. Also after three weeks of being sick and feeling as though I am gonna have a heart attack the nurse called to tell me I can come in to be seen for med refill. The one med only . I said no at this point I hope I am through the worst of it and do not trust that this could happen again. Then I get a certified letter from Johnson dismissing me from practice. OH but after that I go to pick up meds from pharmacy and THEY sent the prescription over after I told them I had been sick...
Read moreSince I moved back to this area I wanted to search out a Primary care physician in my area. After reading reviews I was satisfied with joining Family Care in Richmond Hill. Making an appointment was friendly, fast and easy. The young lady that took my call was very friendly and informative on how the process would work. I was able to book a New Patient appointment within a months timeframe from my initial call.
Upon entering the office Lisa welcomed me with a very friendly greeting and a welcoming smile. This is always a plus when you are walking into any business. Everyone wants to feel wanted and expected and that’s exactly what Lisa did. I met Jamie when she called me back and we talked and laugh as if we’ve known each other for years. She also made me feel extremely welcomed and comfortable by engaging in casual conversation while carrying on her duties to prepare me and my charts for my PA. Once PA Clayton entered the room he was equally friendly, engaged in friendly conversation while asking important health questions and my concerns. He got right to work with ensuring I had all scheduled, needed appointments in place. If I hadn’t known any different I would have thought I was already acclimated and this was no way my first day there.
Needless to say I’ve found my new home.
Keep up the...
