Poor accessibility and absent management, but can still be a fun day if you’re prepared. My elderly grandfather begged to come here; he has limited mobility and uses a walker but he can swim & loves to be in the water. We didn’t realize the pool was such a long walk from the main entrance and there are very few shaded spots to sit and rest along the way. I asked the child at the front desk— btw all of the employees are children who look between 13-16 years old; not a responsible adult in sight!— if they had a wheelchair available and he said no. So they are not prepared for an emergency should someone break a leg, suffer heat exhaustion, etc. I guess they’d have the ever-present police car drive you out? Lesson learned, we’ll bring our own wheelchair next time.
We were told we couldn’t bring our own pool floats and would have to rent them instead; no big deal, pool needs to make money, we left them in the car. When we got to the tube rental hut, all tubes were completely sold out for the day and had been for hours. We asked another child-employee if we could get our tube (very similar to the rental ones) so my 94 year old grandfather could safely participate; they said no and offered no other solutions. Thankfully I was able to secure 2 rafts for our group of 4 when someone returned them to the hut 20 minutes later. There is no “deposit” on the rafts, so people rarely return them after renting and instead leave them unattended in the pool for the rest of the day. If they charged $7 instead of $6 and gave $1 back upon return, they wouldn’t have this problem.
The pool is fun though, and some kind guests assisted us in navigating the poor accessibility since the employees didn’t notice or care. The lifeguards are also kids, but they seem to take their responsibilities seriously. We stayed with my grandpa the entire time he was in the water, but I noticed the lifeguards always keeping an eye on him which was reassuring.
The entrance to the men’s restroom has a sharp curve that is tough to navigate with a walker, especially because the floor is always wet— my grandpa slipped and fell in the entryway and cut himself up a bit, but luckily my brother was with him and caught him before he hit the ground.
I would never bring a disabled person here again (which makes me kinda sad) but I would maybe go again myself. It’s a very every-man-for-himself...
Read morewent there with friends after a long hard week. weve been there plenty of times this summer, however this time they asked for IDs. while getting in was easy in the past, they made no effort to notify people of the recent policy and would not let anybody under the age of 18 in without being accompanied by an adult 21 or older. my friend didnt have her ID and was 17 and the nice employee asked her manager what could be done since me and my other friend were 18 and provided ID, and she proceeded to yell at us and the employee that we were not allowed in without ID verifying our age and we will not be given an exception, policy is policy if we dont like it then too bad. 2 of us had IDs, 1 didnt and we were not allowed in. disappointing and unprofessional on the ticket booth managers part. it made an unnecessary scene when we were complying with their requests and accepted their decision. the policy wasnt enforced the dozens of times ive went this summer and there was a lack of communication with guests on the policy and the conditions are not made clear anywhere outside of the establishment. we are not close to the area and had to go to an entirely different pool, wasting time and money. it was inconvenient, it was frustrating, and the managers did an awful job of handling it. my friends and i were very uncomfortable during the encounter and it was a waste of time. if you belong to the teen demographic, they will give you a hard time, avoid it...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible experience. The entire time we were there, the lifeguards were either on their phones or sunbathing. Then when they were closing, we were getting all of our stuff together (along with a few other families) and a lifeguard came up and just stood right in front of us staring at us. After a few minutes, we asked him if he needed something and says " Yeah for you to leave, we are closing and are waiting on you." We were trying our best to hurry as fast as we could. At this time we felt very uncomfortable as he CONTINUED to stand there with his arms crossed, until another lifeguard had to come up and tell him to leave us alone. He then proceeded to walk over to where all of the other lifeguards were, and after telling them something, they all looked over at us, and continued to do so until we left. When we reached the exit we realized why they were in such a hurry for us to leave. They turned the waves on, grabbed a bunch of rafts, and started screaming as they all ran into the pool (some of which were jumping into the water from the top ledge which I'm surprised none of them got seriously injured doing so). The money we spent as a large group, not only to get in, but to rent rafts, food, etc and this was how we were treated? We just couldn't believe it. We wanted to make this a staple for our summers but will defintely NOT be returning and will be trying out another wave...
