The Painted Pot — Local services in Rochester

EDIT: I came again recently with my niece and they did have new brushes that were a big improvement. No streaking on my latest project which was a bowl I painted strawberries on. My niece was happy with her giraffe she painted which made me happy too.

Overall, this is a fun activity and I would come again. My criticism is that they need to invest in nicer brushes. The brushes shed and get hair on your projects and streak terribly. I know it's not me doing something wrong because I do pottery at Paint Creek Center of The Arts and never have streaking. I've painted 2 pieces here and was very disappointed with how my pieces turned out for this reason. In the future I'll be bringing my own brushes but if they invest in higher quality brushes, I'll update this review to be 5 stars. Paying for the piece and the experience isn't exactly cheap so I think they should respect their customers more by providing good quality equipment. I am not the only PCCA student that's come between semesters and felt disappointed by the brushes. I also should mention that the inside of my mug I used a sponge instead and it looks a lot better than the outside...

Unfortunately, very disappointed in my experience here. My friend called 6 days in advance to make a reservation for a party of 5 at 3pm-5pm. We showed up at 2:45pm for our reservation and were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait. We left our number per their request and walked around downtown. We had not heard from them and called at 3:45pm, worried we had missed the call. However, it sounded like they had forgotten about us, and were frantically trying to find us a space. They told us they would have a space for us if we were there in the next 20 minutes. We returned less than 10 minutes after, almost an hour after our original reservation. We then were unable to get our full time we originally planned for, forcing us to leave at close and have to come back to finish our projects another day. I had a party reservation in their basement space last week. Kendra and Gina were beyond kind and knowledgeable about the available products, walking everyone through the process, and answering all our questions. I felt like the party was well cared for - they checked in with us every step of the way to make sure we had everything we needed. There were a large variety and quantity of products available to paint - from dinnerware to figurines to ornaments and more. We (12 of us) each found an item that we were really excited about, and we all found something different from each other. Being in the basement area for the party reservation was really nice - we had our own space to chat and relax. Overall, I will definitely be coming back.
