The Cheese Lady is amazing! Wonderful people who will tell you about the cheese & give you a taster if you like. The variety is unbelievable! So many possibilities for cheese tastings, parties, exploring a region, impressing your friends with the description of the cheese on the label. (This cheese was developed by Trappist Monks....interesting conversation starters.) There's a cheese of the month special every month that's always absolutely delicious. Loved the Irish cheddar in March! Now I can find Cotswold & Port Salut cheese instead of hoping it will come back in stock at the store. The fresh chevre goat cheese is an absolute must, there are varieties blended with honey, tangier-tasting ones, etc. I love bleu cheese so I always pick a different one from the large chalkboard menu. If you have a budget, just ask the price by the pound of the cheese. They will cut a piece to your liking. The peppadew spread is amazing. Make sure to check out the rest of the store for crackers, nuts, jams, & other companion foods for cheese. They will happily recommend what to serve with certain cheeses; everyone there is very friendly & knowledgeable. They also have all the fancy cheese knives & plates, everything you need if you want to get into cheese tasting or for a party. Highly,...
Read moreI had the most wonderful experience The Cheese Lady Rochester,MI last night. I arrived last night at 5:15 hoping to pick out some cheeses to put together a board for Christmas Eve. I was feeling a little sheepish, knowing I really should have ordered ahead. I was helped by Mariah the shop manager. She was such a joy to work with. You know when you bump into someone who has a real passion for what they do? The kind that makes their eyes light up when they are sharing with you? That was Mariah. She helped me select cheeses from what I already knew I liked and steered me towards a couple of just revelatory, new palate expanding varieties. She shared that one of her favorite things to do in shop is to introduce people to new flavors. Mariah also helped me select some crackers that would pair well with my selections, as well as saved me a trip to another store in the rain by making me aware of the selection of cured meats in the front cooler. I have not been this excited to eat something in a long time. I’m honestly having a hard time waiting for tomorrow evening. If you haven’t made it into The Cheese Lady, Rochester you really should. It was an...
Read moreWhat a super fun experience!! We live in Tuscola County, but often visit this area to see family. My husband and I, along with my aunt, went to visit The cheese lady around 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon (they close at 4). Mariah (sp) was just fantastic! She was warm and welcoming, friendly and crazy knowledgeable about cheese! She invited us to explore their super awesome store. It carries all kinds of cute little accessories for the perfect cheese board! She brought us back to the cheese room after we were done exploring and allowed all 3 of us to try several different samples of cheese!! Mariah was just as sweet as could be even though they were really trying to close! She was patient, kind, friendly, warm and just a real pleasure! Something very difficult to find in the customer service area these days! We have been talking for a couple days now how much fun the whole store experience was! Thank you Mariah for a fun filled, tasty afternoon! ☺️☺️ we just LOVE our...
