I'm new to the Rochester area and heard that RAC was offering spinerval classes. I looked into the memberships online and decided to do their 3 day trial. Upon entering, I was not greeted - I was hardly acknowledged. I prompted someone to tell me more information about joining and the guy wanted 2 pieces of information - what kind of membership I wanted and how I was going to pay. Really? Didn't you miss something? Like - welcome to RAC, oh you haven't been here before? Let me give you a tour! Here are our membership options, etc, etc? It was left to me to ask all the questions and there was absolutely no salesman in this guy, nor a display that he even cared. Beyond that, the gym is very small compared to others I've been to, and I was not impressed. There are a total of 3 arc trainers (Planet Fitness has an entire row of these and it only costs $10/mo to workout there). There are 6 tvs that are too small to even see from beyond the second row of workout equipment. Lastly, why would I pay $44 a month to take your generic spinning class and use the workout equipment, when you charge $16 for a non-member to take the spinerval class (an upgrade from the original spinning class), but a member still pays $14?? Nooooo thank you. If only Rochester had a Planet Fitness, then I'd still be working out there :/ Just wanted to let everyone know that this place seems to be overrated from what I hear - and it definitely did not...

On my first visit I was introduced to Jim (manager). He gave me the grand tour. Heās clearly well versed on the equipement and proud of the quality of the gym. Overall a very pleasant person to talk with. Zero pressure to join or buy personal training.
The equipment here seems completely new. I didnāt see a single tear in any of the upholstery on the equipment and benches.
The cardio equipment seems top notch as well. I prefer the elliptical and this is the first time I encountered the āOctaneā brand of machines. Iāve used them a dozen times now and my feet donāt get numb like they do on the life fitness versions. There are also many other types of unique cardio machines, but I havenāt tried them yet.
I havenāt had the time to use the free weights yet but it seems well stocked. There is only one half rack. They have two of the new smith machine type things (with horizontal and vertical guides) but I think Iād prefer they have two half racks and one of these machines.
One thing to note is that the fancy jungle gym type stuff seen on their website and in the photos is only available when working with a personal trainer
The menās washroom is spotless. The showers are clean. There is a sauna, but I havenāt used it or peaked inside.
This facility does not provide towels, but you can get a small hand towel near...
