I was there this past Sunday. Walked in, not realizing they stop serving breakfast at 10 AM or 1030. I kindly asked the waitress, are you still serving breakfast? She rudely answered back and said, no. We are serving lunch. I also asked for some restaurants to charge you an extra dollar or 2 If they still serve breakfast after 11 o'clock she said, I just told you no, it's lunch. We do not have breakfast, so we ordered. We asked for it, a Dr. Pepper and a can or any bottle. She came back and said she has no carbonated water for the Dr. Pepper and she has no can or bottled soda water. So I asked her, you have none at all whatsoever. I just told you no, she said she also said 2 minutes later when she returned back to the table, says I do have a Mexican Coke. So I asked her, is that in a bottle, she said, yes, fine. I will accept that. So I asked her about certain dishes, and she was rudely. Answering back She seemed upset agitated. Angry didn't to service, so we ordered anyway. She came back several minutes later. There was a table of 5 of us. Everyone got their food except for my wife. She waited and I timed it an extra 13 minutes we asked her. What happened to my wife's order? She really respond with. I only have 2 hands. I'll get to her when I'm ready and walked away. I asked her several times for coffee. I asked her for Kramer and she never respond until 5 or 6 minutes later. What she says. I told you once I'm busy. Other waitresses were also rude, except for one young man. I believe he was the waiter. He respectfully respond and was very polite about it and did kind of apologize on how we were being treated as far as the waitress. It seemed she was very rude. My brother recommends this restaurant and then said it was very good. And people are very nice, but for some reason that day, it was a total opposite. So breakfast it and excuse me, my lunch has ended. She brought us to receipt. It was over a $100. I paid the bill. She stopped and looked at the bill. I said you're not giving me a tip who comes in and orders all this food and does not give a tip. I said I will leave you a tip on the table. I will pay cash. I will not charge it to my credit card. She says I will exit out leave it blank, but I still can't believe you're not leaving me a tip. I asked myself, and I asked the people of Rockport, when you go to this restaurant and you're root and you're being treated very rudely. And especially to your loved one or your spouse. They been married to for 40 years. Somebody treating them very rude and not being respectful to them. Would you leave them a tip? What would you do so I? Left her a small tip very small tip and we walked out. Did she tell me, thank you or come back? I hope you enjoyed your meal. No, all she did was stand there. He looked at me up-and-down and gave me very rude and ugly looks. I was very disappointed, so was my brother. He apologized. I said that he's never going back for some reason that day. My brother said it didn't taste the same. That's why I give them a very poor rating atmosphere was fine. The service sucked, they're very rude. I didn't like the fact when she says. I only have 2 hands. I kept on passing our table every time I ask for something. If you guys go to this restaurant, just be aware. She is 840-year-old waitress. With the gap that are front teeth or cavity, light skin. Latino woman with black hair, an attack 2 earner forearm. Hopefully, she does not treat you or you're a loved one. Or disrespect them the way she did to...
Read moreThe view has improved, but the quality of the food has fallen here since the relocation. A couple of years ago this was my "go to" spot for Mexican food, but since the move to Rockport from Fulton they seem to be catering more to the tourists and the quality and uniqueness of the food has suffered. There's an 8 page menu, but everything has been blanded down for the Yankee pallet. If you're a tex-mex aficionado, as I am, you'll be bored. With rice that has no resemblance to Spanish rice... no tomato, no peppers, no paprika, and just no flavor, and tamales with a thick layer of maza, and a small amount of unseasoned pork...well, I had a hard time finding something I liked. I will say that the tamales were moist and well cooked. Also the sauce and queso mix was brought out to me in a bowl, which I prefer because then I can get as much or little as I like, but it was thinner than it should have been. I missed the tortillas on the table as this used to come with every meal, just like in Mexico, but not any more apparently. Aside from the food I found the experience pleasant enough. We had our drink, and food orders taken pretty quickly after seating ourselves, but I had to go find the waitress for a go box. Also, our server dropped off the bill and disappeared without offering dessert. I object to this anytime there's cheesecake on the menu ;) The dining room is large with big booths to accommodate larger groups and a party room. There's a decent view of the beach across the ski basin from the dining area. It was clean, well lighted and well staffed. I find it odd that the Asian style etched glass from the Chinese restaurant that was in the building before, was still there but it wasn't TOO distracting. They have a range of table sizes available with hand made yucca fibre base chairs that HAD to come from Mexico. There is good accessibility for the disabled here... parking, ramps by door, wide aisles and bathroom access, but the bathroom was untidy (see pics) and I cab see the sink being a challenge is your chair bound. Aranda's, your newer building is looking great, especially since the storm repairs. Can we get the food back on track now?! Or are you content to be a tourist trap with no...
Read moreUsually my hubby and I love going here but the past few times have not really been that great. I have noticed that when we go, if the owner is there, we get the best service. However, if the owner is not there, things tend to happen. The past few times we have gone we don't just have one waitress tending our order. We usually see him/her joking around with the other waitresses and someone else brings our food so my hubby and i usually don't know who to tip. Our orders come out wrong and it's like they really don't care that it does. This past time when I asked them to correct the order, they took a long time getting it back out and the food was just cold. My hubby and I were upset because we really like this place. We just wont go if the owner isnt there. Maybe around him they feel that they need to stay on their toes, but when he's gone, they really dont care. Also, we order through the food caddy and they are trying to charge outrageously compared to actually going into the restaurant. My normal $35 meal actually cost me $61 and were trying to tell us that the menu prices went up, but then I went back into the restaurant and they were the same. This has happened on several occasions too. Please, Mr. Arandas, please make sure your waitresses are getting proper training on both the menu and table service. We have friends that keep trying to tell us not to go back but we love the food when it's fresh. I don't want to find another restaurant...but I might have to if this keeps up.
Update: 08/23/17-Food was cold, all the meat in our dishes was EXTREMELY spicy. Went in at 1:15, left @2:30 because service was extremely poor once again. I could understand if they are busy but we were one of three tables that were there. Our waitress didnt come back to check on us for an hour because she was too busy having fun with her friends. Was absolutely disgusted for the final time. When the waitress asked if she could get me another plate to go, I was so irritated I refused. Will not go back unless owner is there because he makes sure they do their jobs. If Mr. Arandas is wondering why he's losing clientele, he needs to get rid of the lazy waitresses he has now and find someone who actually...
