After yet another over the top shopping experience, I finally wrote to L&B corporate. I have no hopes of hearing back but this location is horrible and continues to go downhill. So here is what I wrote:
After spending years going to various L&B stores, we moved to Roseville two years ago and this is now our âhome store.â Weâve gone here for years as I grew up in Shoreview and Byerlyâs was a constant for us grocery shopping when I was a kid. Iâm 53 now, and have the disposable income to spend at a âbetterâ grocery story but this is not it.
We run in on occasion to pick up a few things and it never comes without issues. The bathrooms are horrible and smell of mildew, the people in the deli are some of the rudest we have ever encountered (barely acknowledging our existence and acting as if itâs a hardship to help us), often lacking in decent produce, and many times an issue that requires the police to be called. Tonight was no different. An African American woman was having a meltdown at the register because she felt the manager was targeting her. She was yelling and screaming while the person bagged our groceries who has autism was covering his ears and shouting âoh boy, oh boy,â because if you know anything about people on the spectrum, this stuff is extremely upsetting. To say that the manager did nothing to de escalate this situation is an understatement; even laughing at one point which upset this woman even more. It was unacceptable when he could have diffused this by simply saying, âI always stand at the front as the manager and we thank you for being a customer.â Then walk away and observe from a place that removed him from the situation because it was him she was upset with.
This seems to be the bottom of the barrel location that you are choosing to run into the ground. Itâs unfortunate because there are so many people who shop there expecting the Lundâs and Byerlyâs quality, customer service, and professionalism of the past. Like many of the other locations still have. This store is tired, the management there is subpar, no one trains the people bagging the groceries which results in crushed bread and bruised produce, and the overall feeling there is depressing. Itâs no longer a store that is worthy of the prices a person pays to shop at a more boutique-type grocery store. Every time we walk in, we know it will be something. Itâs disappointing and I cannot be the only person to let you know this.
I would love to see the day where I walk in and love this location again. It has been years since this was the case and I donât see that happening, but Iâm hoping you are listening and understanding the experience there is lacking and people deserve better when paying these prices....
Read moreRegular L/B customer but at other locations. Found myself in the area and stopped to pick up a couple things from the deli. Staff not as friendly as other locations. Asked about ingredients in a particular salad for a person with nut allergies. A couple older women were behind the counter. The first one asked the other if she knew. Her response after a long pause was "well I'd give it a real good look". Seriously?!? The first lady asked if the other knew where the book with ingredients was. Her response was that she hadn't seen it in a real long time. This whole time she was leaning on the counter doing nothing. While the first woman was looking for the book, I said to the second woman that "while she's looking, I know I'd like a pint of the broccoli salad." She responded by telling me that the first woman would help me with my order and then walked to the other end of the deli and leaned on that counter. There were no other customers at the deli at this time and there were at least 4 or 5 women working in the deli at the time. I was so surprised at the poor customer service. So unlike all the other locations! Needless to say, I'll stick to the L/B locations in Eagan, Highland and Edina where the service is AWESOME. Especially Eagan--they're always so friendly! I should add that the one lady was trying to be helpful, and was in the end, so...
Read moreA quick story to share today of how Byerly's went above and beyond and PROVED they are the best: My grandma, at nearly 92, passed away today, and the comment she made that cracked all of us up is that she only wished she could make it to Byerly's in Roseville, MN, one more time. She loved to grocery shop and basically lived off the deli and bakery offerings! As my family stayed at her home today, my aunt decided to see if Byerly's catering could bring over food for the waiting family members. We didn't know that Byerly's catering was for a much bigger scale than our small family. After finding out the situation, Ken Atzmiller, the grocery manager at the Roseville store, personally pulled together food for our entire family and drove it over, on his own time, to deliver to us, in his Silverado pickup truck! He also brought over a gorgeous bouquet, and wouldn't accept a tip despite the fact that he had gone above and beyond for us. We are SO appreciative of how Byerly's went the extra mile for our family today...just like they always do! That's what makes Byerly's special...Minnesota nice in...
