My daughter got married at the Woodbine mansion in December of 2023. I will give it three stars only for the beautiful Victorian building and gardens. I do not think I will choose this venue again for the following reasons: The only place where any furniture is present is upstairs- downstairs all the rooms are completely bare of furniture. Two sets of some 20 step stairs lead to the upstairs where the rooms are furnished. There is no elevator in the building so that grandparents have to walk up the long set of never-ending stairs to get to the bride. All ladies were running errands up and down the stairs in their heels- I ruined my beautiful set of heels hitting the steps while holding up my heavy gown. My feet ached from running up and down those tedious steps again and again. One of our elderly guests was unwell and we wanted to lie her somewhere warm till the evening was over but there was no furniture downstairs and she could not take the stairs. It was all very inconvenient and uncomfortable. The other big issue we had was that we were not allowed to chose our own caterers which would have saved us a load of money. We were forced to work with caterers that we did not like much and who charged us at least 3 times more than what we could have arranged ourselves. The food was mediocre and the presentation was not as good as we have liked. But we had to work with that. Some of the wall sockets were not working and we had to run wires across the floor where they could be seen. For the amount of money we paid, atleast we could have all outlets functioning. So I have come to the conclusion that just the building does not count, the venue has to be easily accessible to the young and old. Ladies will be in gowns and heels, so furniture should be present downstairs also. One of the downstairs restrooms can easily be converted into an elevator so that grandparents can be beside their grandchildren at this memorable time. Food is of major importance in an event such as this, people should be allowed to work with caterers of their liking. Vendors should not be forced upon the clients who then have to pay twice what they could have paid elsewhere. On the whole, there were many inconveniences we had to accommodate in order to hold our wedding here and I would not do it...
Read moreWe were beyond fortunate to get married at the beautiful Woodbine Mansion in February of this year. I have been a wedding planner in the Austin industry for almost 8 years and knew that when I got married I wanted it to be at a venue I had not worked at before so it could be a special and new/special experience for me. Woodbine completely exceeded my expectations and was the perfect spot for our wedding. We had almost 200 people in attendance and had the clear tent up which as a wedding planner, I knew the weather was not something I ever wanted to worry about, and to top it off- Woodbine has such a beautiful tent that they have available to rent. Being able to get ready all day with my friends and family was so much fun since we had the venue for the full day. There was more than enough space for 14+ people to do hair and makeup over the course of the day and we even had Live Love Relax come in and give chair massages in the morning! When planning the wedding, we found so many hotel options close by and didn’t need to have any buses/transportation other than Uber codes for guests and valet and it was perfect. We rented out the entire Ruby hotel for our guests to stay and it couldn’t have been more convenient for everyone! Everything was so close to Woodbine and downtown Round Rock is really a cute place to stay for the weekend and is still so close to the Domain/downtown that our guests were able to check out more of the city really easily. We had a lot of kids invited so we were able to rent the house across the street from Woodbine as well for our “babysitting” space and the parents and kids LOVED it! Woodbine is just such an incredibly beautiful space and you can tell it was updated by a wedding planner because it covers ALL the bases you need in a venue! Not only are the getting ready spaces picture perfect, but the landscaping/grounds are pristine- so really, all of your photos are going to be amazing no matter what spaces you utilize. From a coordinator perspective- they have thought of everything so your vendors are all going to be so happy being at Woodbine as well! We had the perfect wedding and I wouldn't have changed a thing! I am looking forward to having our 10 year anniversary party there to relive our...
Read moreAs a wedding photographer, I've had the privilege of working all over the country and internationally. But at home in Texas, The Woodbine always stands out. This historic mansion and grounds are well cared for and in exquisite shape, it boasts many locations for ceremony/reception, is grand and still manages to feel intimate. The evening light cascades down the stairs at just the right time to cast a glow behind couples during their grand entrance. The trees stand tall, string lights and candles create the perfect ambient glow during reception hours. It is the ideal place to get married for those who want a romantic venue, classic architecture and beautiful landscaping.
But this review is written with a more important role: I was the mother of the Bride. When my daughter and her fiance asked for venue recommendations - "something historic, elegant, timeless and classic" - there was only one choice. They visited the Woodbine Mansion and fell in love.
Not only is the Woodbine a dream, but the customer service we received was exceptional. From the start, whether it was questions with the contract or needing help on the wedding day itself, Julie was such a pleasure and made everything run smoothly. Her responses to questions were lightning fast, and she was genuinely a joy to work with. So much so, I saw Julie on the wedding day and immediately met her with a hug. Our interactions with Maddy were limited, but she was also very helpful. We appreciated how well we were cared for. It greatly enhanced our overall experience.
If we had it to do all over again, we'd still choose the Woodbine Mansion. My only regret, if there was one, was that I couldn't photograph the day too. It was the best day ever. Truly,...
