I had a party of 16 (all family) and they seated us immediately. The atmosphere was really quaint as I heard the restaurant was formerly a laundry. Ill give them kutos on the transformation. They did well.
The service lacked much to be desired though. We gave our drink orders after about 20 minutes of being seated (yeah I thought that was a bit of a long wait for a drink orders especially when the place was not that busy and there were a number of servers just standing around). We had to stop passing waiteres for bread as I guess the figured we werent there to eat??? I have a family of water drinkers so, our drink orders was not that complicated. When our drinks finally came the server had to come back a couple of timss to get water and ice tea right.
So, once drinks came we had to wait an additional 45 minutes before I could get the attention of the server top come and take our order (remember they were statnding in a group).
Our server came and then went and retreived a second server to help take our order. The server she brought took my order. After about another 30 minutes pur food started showing up a little at a time. Now we didnt order Chateaubriand, nope most of our orders were spaghetti and meatballs and alfredo on noodles. My order was spaghetti and meatballs with mushroom and italian sausage (I like to mix).
Ultimately the family was served but, my meal had yet to arrive. When we inquired as to what was taking so long the server said the red mushrooms were taking a long time. In other words, they forgot!
About 15 minutes later my meal showed up. No meatballs and it looked awful. This was well after my family had finished their meals and the kids were already running around. We had been there for almost 2 hours so, in disapointment I told the server to box it up.
They apologized and said they would discount my meal. They did. After a 30 minute wait for an almost $25 plate of spaghetti and (no) meatballs and they gave me a $2 and change discount. Whoopee!!!
Our total bill after they included an almost $60 large group gratuity was about $400. For Spaghetti, a pizza, alfredo, 2 Cannoli's, ice tea and water. No Alcohol!!
Summery:
Expect to have to hail your server because they dont have the initiative to come to your table and inquire if your ready to order.
The food was way over priced for the quality. My Aunt was Sicilian. I know quality Italian food This was not it!
The during meal service lacks much to be desired. No one came and refilled bread, drinks asked if we needed napkins...Nothing. They did bring us the bill that I had to get her attention for.
Don't come in with a large group or expect to pay south of a hundred dollars for a gratuity thats far surpasses the quality of service you receive.
We will never go there again and will warn our friend not to go there either. For what I paid we could have gone to Olive Garden and paid about half for the same size group and got better food, better service and lastly you could decide what tip YOU want to leave for the service you received.

Read moreI have been to Palmero’s before and had a wonderful experience then, but last night was truly awful.
My family arrived at 5:30pm because we have a toddler that eats early, and we figured we would beat any Saturday night dinner crowd. We were only 5 adults and the child. We entered empty dining room to be told we would have a 35 mins wait. This was perplexing because there were nothing but open tables around us, but we get it and are flexible. So we let the girls take the baby to walk around while my dad and I go for a drink across the street. No big deal at all.
35 mins goes by. Then 60. Finally, after never receiving a text that our table was ready, we walk back up and are asked to wait an additional 15 mins while they clean a table for us. So after an hour and a half, we are finally at the table, ready to have some yummy Italian food for dinner. It’s Saturday, there are reservations, so again, we get it.
A few mins after being seated, we are greeted by our server. Now, I’m not expecting someone working on a Saturday night to be enthusiastic about passing out pasta dishes, but we were met with straight up disdain. From the nasty looks to the attitude that we didn’t belong there, all the way down to us even attempting to order a bottle of wine (twice), it was 20 mins before we even saw one drink hit the table, and it was a bottle of sprite. Seriously, I tried to order a bottle of red, was told they didn’t have it as the server just walked away. She returned, and I inquired about a different bottle which she said was also not available, but not to worry, they have any other bottle available as she walked away again. I couldn’t even get my toddler’s food order or appetizer order in.
We had to leave. We spent all that time to be treated like we were simply not wanted there multiple times. I don’t know why this was, and I certainly don’t think we treated anyone rudely at any point in time, even as I had my family leave out the back to not cause a scene while I went inside to speak to a manager about paying for the sprite.
Thankfully, we were able to get some food somewhat quickly at the Rock Bar and grill across the street and were treated kindly there despite only one person serving the entire dining room.
I don’t know what happened last night, and it it was something we did, please let us know, but unfortunately I don’t think we can return for another shot and probably wouldn’t recommend Palmero’s to...
Read moreIf you've never had fresh pasta, you need to try Palermo Pasta House. My wife and I saw this gem on Texas Bucket List, and we knew we had to try it. We live less than 5 miles away.
We showed up a little early for the fresh pasta, so we ordered a nice bottle of Malbec, a salad, cheese-olive-salami small plate and an appetizer, meatballs in the Marsala Mushroom Sauce. It was incredible.
We also enjoyed some rolls with some balsamic and olive oil.
Finally, we made it to 5 pm and the pasta was available. My wife ordered the Arrabiata over Fettuccine. I ordered the Ragu Bolognese over Taglierimi.
First, there is a big difference between freshly prepared pasta and store purchased pasta. We knew from the appetizer that the sauces would be well worth the visit and they did not disappoint.
Wrapping up dinner. I decided to order a pizza to go. Now, they talk thin crust on the menu, but its not the traditional thin crust you would get at an Italian restaurant. I love comparing the pizzas to Pregos Pasta House on Greenville Avenue in Dallas. That is truly thin crust. The pizzas at Palermo are not really thin. They are typical regular crust pizzas. I reheated the pizza today and I must say, the flavor makes up for the thicker than thin crust issue. Great flavor. If they had the extra thin light crust it would have been perfect by my standards.
My wife also wanted a canoli. When she ordered she said cannelloni, so of course we were surprised when another pasta dish arrived. That was our mistake, so we asked to also make that to go and we ordered the canoli. It too was delicious.
Update 2024!
Same great food and service. I tried their pizza. I typically love thin crust, so this was just regular crust. The pizza was delicious as well. The better half enjoyed her Fettuccine Mushroom Cream Marsala.
If you haven't tried Palermo Pasta House, what are you waiting for?
