My wife and I have been coming to the Brass Tap in Round Rock for more than a year, and it's been our favorite local hangout. However, tonight, we were both treated rudely by (I think) a new employee -- Jill -- independently of each other. I arrived with a friend of ours, and I had our beagle with us (who has always been treated well by the employees of Brass Tap for as long as we've brought him there), and he was excitedly barking as we arrived and found our seats outside on the covered deck. Jill, as she took our initial drink orders, said, "He's not going to keep barking, is he?" At first, I thought she was joking, but she kept pursuing it -- "People don't like barking...you're going to have to leave if he doesn't stop." I understand people do not enjoy constant barking -- I do not tolerate it myself. However, we had barely sat down before she was giving us ultimatums -- in fact, she had not even taken a drink order. I was bothered, but I blew it off. My wife, who was getting a coffee across the street since she is pregnant, eventually arrived and met me and our friend outside on the deck. She told me that she was told that she was not permitted to bring her "outside drink" into the Brass Tap. Again, my wife and I have been coming to this location for over a year, and we have never been treated like this before tonight. Because this was so unusual, as soon as my wife described her encounter, I had a sense she had interacted with the same employee that I encountered just twenty minutes earlier. After my wife described her, it was in fact the same person. My wife then took our dog and left. I finished my beer and closed my tab. I left a $0.00 tip, which I have never in my life done before, and got up and left. My wife and I (and our friends) went across the street to Star Coffee to spend the next several hours. I was incredibly disappointed because my wife and I enjoyed The Brass Tap Round Rock as our favorite local place. The staff has always been incredibly friendly and welcoming. The fact that we were each treated rudely, independently of each other, by the same employee was not coincidental. It was disappointing, and I hope it...

We visited with our daughter for some apps and drinks on Sunday. On Monday I called in to ask why the extra charge of nearly $100? They advised that it was a 'temp hold' added when opening a tab and should 'fall off in 24 to 48 hours'. Today, was surprised to find the pending charge of $99.76 is STILL on my account 2 days later. I get that you want to mitigate for deadbeats vagabonds and scallywags, but this could be a serious game changer for folks on a tight budget. I strongly advise customers to BRING CASH to avoid Brass Tap holding onto such a large amount of money for more than 1 day. Also, recommend to first eat elsewhere; The Taps' once scrumptious and unique selection of hors d'oeuvres and goodies has become 18th century brig chow at best; much different qualtity than when they re-introduced their menu a couple years back: Korean Nachos, used to be our favorite. Salty thick sticky sauce, state fair cheap chips... simply overpriced and just 'meh'. (chicken wings were the star; at least edible to be fair).
--Previous Review .. indeed still stands, overall--
Such a fun place. I love to try beers that just can't be found elsewhere... The patio outback is fun too! These homies even sell...
Read moreHere is where the drinks are. The range and breadth of different and varied spirits, beers, ales, ciders, wines etc., is astounding. Couple that with a fairly good menu, and it's game on.
I'm not saying this is a BJ's facsimile. Different vibe totally. BJ's menu is for people that wish to enjoy great dining, and then drink as an afterthought. The Brass tap menu is for people that want something on which to chew... while they DRINK.
*Sidenote: the Mac n cheese is Great! Get it with the Prime Rib sandwich.
They've a large space inside with a huge long bar, TVs and a few tables. There are lots of taps, bottles and some cans. Walk through there to the back and you have a large patio (louvered and heated for inclement weather) replete with several large TVs. This is where I always go to enjoy my cigar.
Take a right, go down a few steps and you'll be in the Brass Tap courtyard. Picnic tables, a stage for live music when they have it, and another tented bar. This is the area where precious puppies are allowed.
The only thing that is missing is desserts on the menu... However, I asked permission to have Tiff's Treats delivered and Josh the manager said that it'd be ok... so long...
