Came here yesterday on St Patty's day with a friend for some drinks before a movie and was treated rudely upon entering. Security told us he needed to see ID and needed to look inside the small cooler/lunchbox I had hanging from a strap over my shoulder (understandably). This I had with me as well as a thermos with coffee. Didn't think it would be an issue just to have these things especially after being allowed in by security. Approaching the counter adjacent to the bar, which was a bit crowded, I noticed a waitress standing near the wall facing the kitchen. I smiled at her only for her to just give me this blank stare. After we sat ourselves she comes and first thing out of her mouth is questioning me about what's in my cooler. No hello, no welcome, no introducing herself as our server. Taken aback a bit I told her just some snacks to which she replied that I couldn't eat them there. I hadn't planned to but I just said ok. She walks away for less than a minute and returns to ask what was in my thermos. Now i'm irritated. I paused to see that she was seriously questioning me again and as I'm telling her there's coffee inside here comes security guy to give me a timely notice that I couldn't drink it or have it on the counter. So now after being badgered until my things are out of sight this lady shows us the st Patty's menu and asks if she could get us anything to drink. We went ahead and ordered our green drinks and not long after she walks away I couldn't help but overhear her warmly welcoming the people who had just sat down at the table behind us. I guess they didn't have any contraband. It didn't help that we were the only two people of color in the bar besides one guy I saw. She didn't tell us who she was or start acting friendly until after giving us our drinks and seeing that my friend had wrote in a tip on the merchant receipt against my best attempts to persuade him not to give her s*. Her name was something like Karen or Carrie. I didn't care to remember at that point. If the drinks weren't so cheap and my friend wasn't such a slow drinker we wouldn't have stayed as long as we did but left after finishing the first round. Needless to say I won't be back especially since the bar around the corner ( Mr. B's Gastropub) offered us a way more welcoming, inviting, and less intimidating...
Read moreI'm honestly not a huge fan of this place but prices aren't too bad all in all - a good sports bar, if you will. Yesterday, our experience was HORRID. We had a waitress who was new and while I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, we had to remind her on more than one occasion of my drink order. After waiting almost 45 min - I finally ordered it at the bar along with some food. We went to check out and mind you, most if not many people carry cash nowadays. There is no sign that states a credit card minimum. Our waitress let us know at THE END that it was a $10 minimum for credit card - we had two tabs open because of the horrible service and having to go to the bar. we told her to merge the tabs. She pretended that she was confused - fine, we just paid her with what little cash we had for the one drink she gave us, and then paid the rest at the bar. She then directed us to get cash out of an ATM - that incurred a fee. It is not my responsibility as the customer to pay you in cash if you did not forwarn us. To the owner: You need to post that it's a $10 minimum, or eat the cost of the credit card fee - it is 2020, and this is the preferred method of payment. As a small business owner myself, I gladly accept credit cards and mark up my prices...
Read moreThis place is absolutely horrible! I attempted to meet a friend there. I was stopped by the door person and he said âAre you ok?â I said âyes why?â He then said âHave a few too many?â I said âexcuse me I donât even drink.â And then this woman named Tara came over who looked drunk with blood shot eyes and reeking of alcohol saidâ I have to protect our liquor license, I am not letting you in.â I said âlady I donât even drink and she said âthey all say that.â I was so angry that I walked over to the royal oak police department to file a complaint. The officer on duty said as a private business they can refuse who ever they want . I noticed under age drinking and people drunk siting at their restaurant. I hope they get their liquor license removed and have to pay a huge fine. My motto is always treat people with kindness. These people were mean and rude to an outstanding royal oak citizen who...
