Coconut Inn — Attraction in Saint Pete Beach

My husband, myself, and our dog gizmo recently stayed at the coconut inn to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We are local, live in downtown St. Petersburg and figured a few nights away from the city would do us some good. First off I’ll say this, if you’re looking for thrills and fancy amenities, go to the Don. This is an older boutique style inn that is laid back. I mean that in the best way possible. It’s charming, quiet, friendly, clean, and sets a terrific base for much needed relaxation and TLC. It’s about 100 feet from the Gulf of Mexico, need I say more? The pool was perfect, seems to be regulated, in the mid 90s while we stayed but the pool certainly did its job of providing relief. The inn provides practically anything you need for a beach day (minus sunscreen which I forgot, the most important thing 🥲) chairs (RIO brand, very sturdy, well made chairs) umbrellas, coolers, towels, kids chairs, kids beach toys, everything!)

We stayed in room #7 which is a studio with a king size mattress. The bed was actually quite comfortable, we definitely slept just fine. I’ve seen others complaining about how small the bathroom is. I faired just fine, as did my husband who is 6 feet tall and 200lbs. You shouldn’t be worrying about the bathroom. It’s a place to clean yourself and do your business. You’re on one of the best beaches in the country.

My only gripe, and I hate to even type it out, is the coffee provided in the room. Pass-a-grille is a little sleepy town, so to go out and get a coffee I would have to wait until 8am when things open up. I wake up a bit earlier than that so I settled for the coffee in the room. It wasn’t the absolute worst coffee but it wasn’t good. I only am writing this as maybe it will help going forward. I hate to even complain.

The staff is wonderful!! Super helpful and friendly. Except for the manager Baxter who was caught sleeping on the job (see attached picture).

So in short, I would absolutely recommend this inn to any of my friends and family. It’s holds this old school Floridian charm that I found so peaceful.

This is not a party hotel, nor is pass-a-grill a party place in general. So more mature individuals and couples would fit here best.

I stayed here for 10 days in late August / early September. I shared Room 6 with my mom.

I absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend to a friend, and I would definitely stay here again if I were staying in Pass-a-Grille. Firstly, the location is fantastic. I could walk out of our room, down the outdoor steps and onto the sidewalk, and the beach is already in view, a short distance away--not even a full block. There is only one house between the Coconut Inn and the beach. And there is a beach entrance right there on 11th street. (There are not beach entrances on every single street). This particular beach entrance also has the only restaurant that is on the beach, The Paradise Grill (which we love going to). There are other restaurants near the beach, but they are all across the street from the beach, rather than on the beach.

Because of our close proximity to the beach, I went on a run or walk on the beach every single morning of my visit (I went around sunrise, so about 7 am this time of year). And every day there were already other people on the beach! I loved it. I ran from the 11th street entrance to the Don Cesar and back. It was lovely.

Our room had everything we needed. We cooked breakfast in our kitchenette every morning. The shower pressure was GREAT. It's so nice to have good water pressure, especially when it comes to getting the sand off!

I loved the little swimming pool in between the two buildings that make up the Coconut Inn. It was nice and private, extremely clean, and well-kept. It felt like a proper vacation! I sat out near the pool (and went in the pool) a lot during our stay. Sometimes my mom and I picked up sandwiches from Publix and ate them out at the table by the pool, that was nice.

The Coconut Inn is really pretty and well-kept, nice and quiet, and the staff are friendly. The location is amazing. I have nothing bad to say about it and would absolutely stay...

Near perfect inn! A perfect beach town - pretty beach steps away, quaint, walkable, restaurants, shopping (on 8th), and Shaner's Land & Sea (20th and Pass-A-Grille Way)) for milk, B, L, and D- take out: eggs, sandwiches, seafood, steaks. What more could you want? I loved it! Perfect for me. The Inn is very cute. I loved my Studio w kitchen and coffee provided. The rooms are lovely - not spacious, but adequate. My favorite part was my (#7 Pagoda) semi- private sun deck w 2 loungers and afternoon shade. #4 next door and #5 around the corner also have loungers. These 3 units are 2nd Floor. (Also #6). #5 is around the corner w a Gulf water view. #6 was around the corner from me on the other side of the Inn. #4 & #7 overlook a lovely pool w nice loungers & some pretty greenery. The whole town is like a beautiful garden. FYI homes here "on the beach" (Gulf Way, I think) cannot see the water unless there's a 2nd story. There's a natural area blocking the view. Paradise Grille (B, L, & D) is right ON the beach, one block away - so convenient. Also right there are palm trees and nice chairs - a great spot for anyone to enjoy. Tom (taxi) met me at the airport. Let me run in Shaner's for milk and creamer. Very nice guy! I'm remembering everything & everyone fondly. A slice...
