The Dressing Room — Attraction in Saint Petersburg

am never one to write reviews but this did not sit well for me . So I debated giving this bridal boutique one stars or two stars but decided on two because the first initial interaction of me getting my dress was amazing. HOWEVER, my final fitting was a whole different story and ruined the whole experience. I traveled all the way from Ohio to get this fitting and making it an experience with my friends and family. (Again I traveled just for this) My sister drove over a 2 hour drive. We get there and the consultant was rushing me SO much (she never introduced herself so I wish I could say her name) it was 10:30a at the time & I made the appt 2 months ago.. my sister was running 5 minutes late & i wanted to wait for her and the consultant didn’t let me. She rushed me into the back room and told me I had to hurry because she had an appt at 11… it was 10:32am at the time. I then tried my dress on rushing to get it on and was out and back in the room before my sister could even come in..(again she was five minutes late making this before 10:35) I actually forgot to wear something with the dress so she was able to see me walk out with the dress on just because of a fluke.. THEN she rushes me off the podium as I’m trying to see what I like/not like about my dress. I was in it for a total of 4 minutes. She just stared behind me with her hands on her hips (I legit have a picture of how awful she was looking at me while I’m in the dress) and then wanted to rush me out and kept saying she had another appointment.. never said the dress looked great never complimented me once (I’m not looking for compliments but I’m pretty sure that’s your job). Because she was rushing me so much I even expressed how I traveled to be there and she rushed me even more after. Just overall felt like I was not important enough for her to actually give me the time I made the appt for. Also we asked her to take a picture and she said “sure you have a couple minutes” overall just very disappointed and I’m sad I got it from here. Although I paid for the dress already, I just wish I would’ve went somewhere else...

My story is complicated, but I've been married once before & that dress experience at another local company (to be clear, NOT The Dressing Room) was worse than horrible. Not wanting to gush over this dress experience, & remembering my buyers remorse over the first wedding, I was skeptical to say the least. Judy and The Dressing Room exemplify everything that this experience should encompass. My first appointment, she offered a clear interview. Here she really took the time to listen to my vision, and interpret what I was trying to accomplish. Dress after dress I tried, she has quite the selection, and leaving my first appointment she had good advice. She encouraged lots of pictures and then told me to look at them, and look often. Her experience knew that I needed time to make this decision & she was never in a rush to close the deal.

After reviewing these pictures often, what I thought I liked the most, I quickly discarded and I kept my options between two. At my second appointment, I was going in to see these two specifically and at that moment I knew, that was the dress I would marry my husband in! She ordered it there, and quoted me a day it would be in, six weeks down the road. True to her word, my dress came in the day before she expected and I picked it up that day! The second part of this review is for her Tailor, Hugh. Together, I feel like Judy and Hugh should take over the bridal industry. Not much needed to be done on the top sizing, but the bottom was a drop waist almost mermaid and I wanted the J-Lo booty tuck. We scheduled 3 fittings, and each time both were on-time, and so easy to work with. They made that dress fit me like a glove. Now I am a few weeks away from my big day, and so excited to premier this amazing gown! I should also add that Hugh, the Tailor also went the extra mile with my daughters dress. It needed some TLC, and he met me at the fabric store, guided me as to what we should do, and fixed up my daughters dress also. Look no further, I promise you will be happy if you choose...

My daughters and I highly recommend The Dressing Room! Nothing compares to the individualized wedding dress shopping experience with Judy at The Dressing Room. One of my daughters, who lives in Tampa, got married spring 2013. We visited three shops in the Tampa area with The Dressing Room as our last appointment of the day. Not only did we find the perfect dress, we had fun and positive experience in every way! Judy is a true professional and takes time to know each bride. She is efficient and yet makes each client feel that they can take all the time needed to make the right decision. Even our three alteration appointments were great fun! Hu is a skilled expert and made the dress fit as though it had been designed just for my daughter. We totally trusted his recommendations. When we had a little bride panic just a few weeks before the wedding, Judy calmly assisted us is finding a last minute item. Another daughter, who lives in Orlando, is marrying this spring. We visited two Orlando area shops in Winter Park and Millenia. However, after those shopping trips, we decided it was well worth our time to drive to St. Petersburg and once again work with Judy to make the dress decision. She had the perfect dress, totally unique, and for a second time provided a personal, relaxing, and fun wedding dress shopping experience! While Judy's shop is classy and upscale and the experience is individualized, her pricing is competitive with other bridal shops we visited. We have started alterations and it is such a relief to know that we have Hu, a true professional, fitting and hemming the very delicate lace dress. My daughters and I tell everyone that The Dressing Room has absolutely been one of the most positive parts of planning two weddings within a year.
