Ride’em Cowboy — Restaurant in Saint Petersburg

This bar needs Bar Rescue. Jon Tapper would say that it's a confused bar. They call it Ride 'Em Cowboy, yet it has nothing country western about it except the painted mural on the right side of the building. They HAD line dance lessons, but no longer has them. The spot for it was way too small and rough surfaced anyway. They play loud DJ hip hop or a solo singer/guitarist who plays whatever he wants, and not country stuff. It has about 15 parking spaces around the building in which not a lot of cars are ever there. When I approach the bar, the bartenders are talking to each other and wait until they're through playing around and talking to ever come to serve me. I'm ignored by them every time I go. This used to be the Old Key West. They have done a good job refurbishing the place because it needed a lot of work before. They have brightened it up. The bartenders are friendly and they have events like Drag Bingo on Monday nights. They have a handful of beers on tap with a few more in the cooler. While I find it a fun place to hang out at times, I don't love the drink menu. Some of the drinks are fun and served in a boot, but many of them are sweet or use stuff like red bull. For a country themed bar, I figured they would have a better selection of whiskey but it's really just a choice between Gentlemen Jack and Maker's. One of the best country bars in downtown St Pete!! The bartenders are not only fast and attentive but also super friendly, funny, and make you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in. They take the time to chat and joke around, which adds to the fun atmosphere. They also know how to make any drink and can surprise you with new ones!
