A nice stroll to see a cute little lighthouse.
This tiny lighthouse reminded be of Bug Light in South Portland, ME albeit a square version of a small lighthouse next to nice city with historical importance and nice views. If you are in Salem and are a lighthouse buff or are looking for a leisurely stroll on a nice day add this to your itinerary. Given its size, it cannot compare to the likes of Portland Head Light, Nubble Light, Sullivan's Island Light, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, or many others along the East Coast, but is nonetheless important.
You can walk right up to it and touch it if you so desire. Enroute you will pass the historic Pedrick Storehouse which was moved from nearby Marblehead, MA. Look closely and you will see the old square headed nails in the trim work. As you walk along historic Derby Wharf you will also pass by the Friendship of Salem, a replica of a 1797 ship and bears the same name as the original Friendship built in Salem that year.
While there be sure to see the Derby House. The Custom House, the old Narbonne House (note the slanted wall), and the Home for Aged Women. If you can find a parking spot in the area make the best of it and take in all the sights and imagine what the wharf used to look like back in the day with all the shipping and loading and...

A peaceful walk, on a sunny day, the sea breeze ...
