The one nice thing I'll say for amazing pizza is that their food is actually amazing. Their specialty pizzas are different and interesting. The steak in their subs is marinated in some incredible sauce.
TLDR; the service is horrible and they don't deserve your business. If you want good pizza in Salem you should try flying saucer or mandees.
The food has brought me back time and again, despite the fact that their service atrocious. The woman who answers the phone and mans the counter is unbelievably rude. She says please and thank you, but there's an underlying tone with everything she says and an utter disregard for customer service that is hard to miss.
They have a policy of no delivery orders after 8PM. I once called a 7:55 to try and get an order in just before the cutoff. She answered and asked me to hold while she helped some customers who had walked in. She just out the receiver down somewhere. After dealing with the customers I heard a phone ring and she answered a different line and took a delivery order. She then got back to my call. At this point it was now 8:01. She refused to let me place a delivery order. She insisted that I had called after 8 and it was against their policy.
She literally just took a delivery order SECONDS before I gave my order. If she cared the slightest bit about customer service she could have easily had my order go out with the one she had just taken.
I had told my friends and family how great their pizza is, and didn't want to disappoint so I left the party I was having and went to go pick up the 5 pizzas I had ordered. The woman behind the counter knew I was upset about them not taking my delivery order. To smooth things over, she gave me 2 cookies... It's like, why even bother? It's the veneer of politeness and hospitality poorly masking how little they actually care.
The woman behind the counter has a ton of trouble with the phone. I often call and get busy signals. For a while I thought this was because they were popular. That was until one night when I called to place an order. Same woman as always answered. As per usual, she asked me to hold while she dealt with other customers. This time however she clearly had forgotten that I was on the line. I sat there for 5 minutes listening to her just talk to the other people who work there about nothing. I hung up and tried to call back 10 minutes later. I was answered by a busy signal. I tried for about 20 minutes before I gave up.
Today was the last straw. I waited an hour and a half for my order. I tried to call repeatedly but... Busy signals. After 2 hours and 15 minutes of waiting, my order came. When I complained to the driver about how I can't get through to the shop and that my order was so late she didn't apologize. She just said "I'm just a driver, and we're busy tonight". That was it. Total disregard for their customers being unhappy.
I tried so hard to like them. Their food is really good but they make it impossible. I would strongly encourage you to order from either mandees or flying...
Read moreThis kills me to write because I think this place has the potential to make fantastic food - but like the, "sometimes amazing pizza" review absolutely nailed, the extremes in quality is bananas. The first few times I went, it was fantastic. Killer meatball sub, great pizza. Like, actually amazing sub. Truly! But a few totally charcoal'd pizzas and soggy subs later, I stopped going for about a year because I just didnt wanna risk it. I rolled the dice tonight and man, did I come up short. The small pizza is shockingly bad - both black and undercooked. The crust is entirely dry and has the flavor and texture of an unsalted stale saltine. The only comparison I have is like the $1 frozen pizzas I used to eat as a kid where your teeth kinda sink into. The sauce and cheese are in such small quantities that I cant really have an opinion on them other than they were missed.
The magnum opus though was the meatball sub. Now, Ill say this - the sauce was spectacular. Arguably far too much garlic for any sane person, but as someone who adores garlic, it was perfect. Large whole pieces of basil. Sadly though, 2/4 of the meatballs were completely raw in the center. Well, it could have been 3/4 but I ate one. So that's a thing for future Tim now, which is just lovely.
I called the place and while they were incredibly friendly and offered to give me a giftcard and tried to refund the sub (i didnt have the heart to tell them about the pizza) - this was supposed to be an "Im too lazy too cook" night and between talking to them on the phone for 15 minutes, talking to grubhub for 15 minutes, trying to look up how long food poisoning takes (8-10 hours) - this was a complete and utter failure. I could throw a stone and hit 5 other pizza places - and while they may not reach as high as high as Amazing Pizza, they also wont sink to the other depths of depravity that they...
Read moreTalk about Christmas Spirit đâď¸đ đť!!! They deserve 10 stars. I'm writing this review for my mom because when she told me this story I was floored and couldn't believe this happened. I told her we HAD to leave this place a review. So basically the story went like this - my mom had placed an order on 12/21 to be ready for her to pickup on Christmas Eve when she got out of work. She was told they would be there for her to pickup. She called on Christmas Eve - and the cleaning guy at 'Amazing Pizza' picked up the phone to say they were closed. My mother had mentioned she placed an order on 12/21 for her to pick up on 12/24 by 6pm, which is besides the point. So the cleaning guy called the owner (Jackie) and she told him to tell my mom to call her, which my mom did. The owner, Jackie, told my mom that she was leaving her house to go open the restaurant to make my mom a dinner...on Christmas Eve mind you. So that's what she did, she left her house on Christmas Eve, went to her restaurant, went in and made us a Chicken Parm. with all the trimmings AND went to my mom's job and dropped it off to her. Seriously amazing. Idk why when I heard my mom tell me this that I thought it was so cool! Im just used to it being "sorry, must've been a mixup. We're closed". Which wouldve been fine, things happen. But this was so awesome and soooo sweet of her to do. I've never tried the pizza before, but next time I'm in Beverly I DEFINITELY will be. Thank you so much Jackie!!!...
