I am a local resident of the Peabody/Salem area and frequent Finz and Sea Level Oyster Bar right next door but today I decided to try out Longboards with two of my friends. We walked in with a smile on our face excited to try out a new place. Excited about the menu and dying for a burger. Besides the waitress who we were clearly in-convincing by being there we had a horrible experience with another waiter. We weren’t going to drink anything that day but during the long wait to get served had decided on ordering a sangria. When ordering the sangria the waiter had asked for ID (procedure of course) but when promptly given the ID made a seen as loud as possible that the ID did not look like me and showing the guests I had with me the ID and saying “this doesn’t look like her right.” Making an accusation that I was using an ID that was fake. Everyone in the restaurant is now staring at this point due to his volume. The proper way to deal with this given situation if he did not believe the ID looked like me would be to ask for a second form of ID or scan the license? But he didn’t. Luckily after embarrassing me I realized that I had my passport on me as well. I showed him and he handed it back and served me the drink with no apology and nothing said. An apology would have fixed it because I am not one to ever complain. I was served my food after that in which I didn’t even feel like touching after because the customer service left such a bad taste in my mouth. We did try and ask for a manager and we were told there was not one in which the waitress did at least comp the drink (appreciated). From start to finish this had been an overall bad experience. An inattentive waitress and rude staff. I want nothing out of this restaurant as I will never be going there again but it is important to me that customers are given the knowledge of bad experiences so they can choose to go elsewhere considering there are MANY wonderful local restaurants nearby where they will walk away with a pleasant experience. Had I read the reviews before I went there and seen how the owner responds to negative reviews I am sure I would’ve taken our business elsewhere and I hope with this review customers can make the choice if they want to give it...
Read moreRecently I’ve been trying to go out more to bars and Restaurants as the Covid 19 pandemic settles down. My girlfriend and I live next door to Salem and decided to take a night out and get something to eat. After looking at highly reviewed places, we stumbled across Longboards. With great reviews and photos we decided to give it a shot.
Upon entrance we were greeted by a host who seated us immediately at a high table. Following that we were provided a menu and assistance to access the drink menu via QR code.
We decided to go on a night that the Celtics were playing so we knew to expect a decent crowd. The bar energy was great along with people at other tables watching the game and socializing. Im relatively new to the bar experience but this was something I was highly comfortable being a part of. Didn’t feel like we stuck out of the crowd at all.
The service was quick as we ordered food and drinks. The 10 piece buffalo wings were a 8/10 (could’ve been a little crispier) and the burgers were a 7/10 (could’ve been a bit thicker of a patty. was also a little dry). I ordered a Shipwrecked (Ro&Co Whisky, Koval Ginger Liqueur, Lemonade & Sprite) which was strong even after it was mixed and watered down which gives it a rating of 7/10.
What makes this experience a 4/5 stars is the great service and the lively atmosphere. A little more work can be put into the food and drinks but overall I’m not walking away with a bad experience.
I can definitely see myself coming back here and would recommend for anyone looking for a good place for a night out on the town.
Thank you to the staff for the great experience and look forward to coming back...
Read moreWe waited 5 minutes in line to get in. We thought this was very reasonable for Salem in October. We were then seated outside on the deck. It was 58 degrees. They had heaters right at our table. We asked several times for them to be lit but they would not. “We don’t have any gas.” Our waitress came to us quickly and we received our drinks timely. Then we sat in the cold for one hour with no appetizers or food. The wait staff would bring out food to other customers and they where bringing them to the wrong tables. After one hour we decided to leave. We talked with the manager. Other patrons outside we also very vocal about there disappointment. We left and the kicker was as we where leaving someone came out and lit the heaters.
Update10/20/23 I have just read the owner’s response and I’m shocked. I know they are busy but to outright lie about the heaters and make it sound like we are stupid patrons is outrageous. They were several other parties on the deck who asked for the heaters to be turned on and were told “we don’t have gas”. Like stated earlier after sitting an hour in the cold on our way down the boardwalk they were turned on. The owner makes it sound like people were too stupid to just ask for the heat to be turned on. No apologies for our completely awful experience, just excuses. And one more thing. I’m not a Rock Star. Just a Google contributor with over 4.8 million views from every state in this country and several in Europe and I don’t believe I’ve ever given 1 star...
