ALLERGY FRIENDLY, GREAT FOOD & DRINKS AND AMAZING SERVICE!!! My boyfriend and I couldn’t have been happier with our dinner here! I have severe milk & egg allergies and I have never been to any restaurant that has handled my allergies better. I informed the waitress, Maddie, of my allergies, and asked her about a few different dishes that I was looking at. Maddie was so kind, patient, professional, knowledgeable and understanding. I was not able to eat any of the dishes that I was interested in, so Maddie had the manager, Nick come see us. Nick was also great, and he had the chefs make us a custom appetizer and me a custom dish without using the normal badder since I was allergic to it- AND IT WAS SO SO SO YUMMY! I was able to get everything I wanted!!! We got fried pickles to start, I had the cod, fried in just flour, with French fries, and my boyfriend got the North shore 3-way pizza. EVERYTHING WAS SO DELICIOUS. We also got a bunch of drinks that were so tasty and priced great! I got a peach habanero margarita and a strawberry margarita, both were very yummy; and my boyfriend got the Saleme rickey, also super yummy- they give you a strong pour too :) We sat on the deck and had a gorgeous view of the ocean, we got to watch the boats go in and out of the harbor. Overall food was amazing and service was even better. The staff really care about making their customers happy and that’s what really matters. Thank you so much to Nick and Maddie, you have no idea how amazing you made this experience. We will definitely be back, this is our new favorite restaurant! I know I’m really hyping up the allergy awareness, but the food itself was amazing. But this restaurant really went out of their way to give me a normal dining experience and it means a lot as someone with allergies who normally feels like a burden to the staff when asking questions about ingredients. I’ll say it one last time - it’s amazing, eat here you won’t regret it!

After visiting and touring Salem MA, we stopped for an early dinner at the SEA LEVEL OYSTER BAR, and it was absolutely wonderful, better than several high-end seafood restaurants we experienced in Boston, Providence, and Mystic. My wife ordered the Fish of the Day Tacos and the Fried Clam Strips appetizer, and I ordered the Fish Stew. The tacos were filled with mahi mahi, cabbage slaw, pineapple salsa, chili garlic aioli, and cotija cheese served on soft corn tortillas; my wife especially enjoyed the enhanced balance of the pineapple and slaw. The fried clam strips had a thin crisply and well-seasoned crust, and came with a creamy tartar sauce – my wife added cocktail sauce because she likes both. My fish stew contained cod, shrimp, scallops & mussels sautéed in a rich and velvety tomato sauce, with sautéed onions, fennel, and lemon butter aioli; the tomato base was fantastic! Ambience was perfect for a seafood restaurant: pleasant romantic atmosphere, surrounded outside by hundreds of moored sea vessels and the Friendship ship, plus a view of the ocean in the distance. Everything was outstanding, service was great, and prices very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Had a really disappointing trip here. The waitstaff was very nice and personable. Unfortunately the food really fell short for me and my husband. The clams I ordered were well shucked, fresh, and were served with a generous helping of cocktail sauce. They are probably the only reason I could give 2 stars. The dining room was full, but the wait staff didn't seem particularly hurried or rushed (it's nice to see a properly staffed room). That said, I can only assume their kitchen needed some more people since it took well over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. The waiter apologized for the wait, and told us he had asked the kitchen about our food. He was very kind. Yet, when my mussels with the provencal sauce finally showed up the mussels at the top of the plate were shriveled and very dry like they had been sitting in the heat for a long while. I was also served 3 unopened mussels which I can’t imagine at a seafood joint. The sauce had a raw wine flavor and didn't taste cooked through. The burger my husband had ordered medium-rare showed up fully well-done with a side of cold fries. There was a side of coleslaw that was pretty mild and just overall not a very bright tasting dish. It was not a satisfying meal and it may be a long while before I give it another shot.

Definitely Sea Level, not above on Expectations. They ask for your phone number. Politely Decline. I gave mine and started getting welcom texts. If they insist just walk away. Companies now want your information no need to give into it. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Awesome! FOOD Par Except for the strawberry shortcake homemade donut. That was AMAZING! AMAZINGLY AWFUL!! That is definitely the worst dessert I have eaten in Salem. If I were the manager, I would take it off the menu. Until it's done right. The donut seemed not cooked well. The strawberry sauce had no taste. Well, it did taste like an unripe strawberry. The only thing that was decent was the tiny bit of cream inside the donut. BOY, THAT WAS ONE BAD DONUT. If were in the 1600 hundreds, that donut would have definitely been hanged! The chorizo hotdog was decent. The best tasting thing was the coleslaw. It was very well balanced in texture and taste. The Kung Pao Shrimp was an interpretation of the original dish. Taste was good and fresh but it was just the sauce that made it Kung Pao. French Fries. Great RETURN FACTOR 50% maybe their other seafood dishes are above sea level. And will let you know when I do taste it. RECOMMEND A FRIEND FACTOR 50%

Husband and I were in MA for a one-day errand and knew we had to swing by Sea Level in Salem. We used to go to the location in Newburyport regularly when we lived in the area and this location was equally as amazing! We were seated on the deck and really loved looking out over the water. It was the perfect setting for our seafood lunch. To start we got the Popcorn Shrimp appetizer, which was absolutely mouthwatering. Props for creativity too - I never expected the popcorn shrimp to be fat fried shrimp served on a bed of popcorn! For entrées I got the Baked Scallops with mashed potatoes and veggies and my husband got the Fried White Fish with fries and slaw. We were both so happy with our choices and we were totally stuffed by the end of the meal. I would have eaten 3 plates if those baked scallops if my stomach could have handled it - so tasty! Our server Marshall was great - so kind and attentive. Our glasses were never empty despite a handful of tables being seated in his section. He made us feel welcome and taken care of. Can’t wait to visit again in the future!

The location is beautiful, some history at a close walk around and a nice view of the bay-if you can sit by a window or on the outside deck to enjoy it. My rating is more for the staff and the food. Fantastic! Appetizers came out in a good time, my kiddo was able to order something not sea food related (I know it's crazy), slight lengthy wait for our entrees but worth it in the end. The resturant (upstairs) got packed very quickly. When we arrived we were not asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside and sat at a table in the center of the resturant, next to the bar and a bit far from a window to really be able to enjoy the view thoroughly. (We were visiting from out of state.) When customers were asking to sit on the deck outside the staff was stating it was reserved(this was a week day in late afternoon.) BUT as I mentioned the waiter we had and the food was GREAT.♡ (Visitors from VA.)
