I wanted to take a minute and review a couple things. First, one of their teachers who I had today and thought was worth reviewing. Then the style of yoga itself, then the location/facility.
It's been a rough couple of years since I got back from Iraq. Not a lot of peace. It was actually one of my teammates who brought me in the first place, we're both pretty heavy in fitness and he presented it as a good supplement. I've done Yoga before, but never really got into the psychological/emotional/spiritual aspect. But every single time I've had a class with Heather, she's thrown out these little pieces of encouragement that I don't even think she realizes she's doing. It's always a positive experience and even when I'm sure I look a real shower shoe in the back, she's always smiling and encouraging me to stick with it. I'm appreciative more than she knows.
If you haven't done Bikram before though, it's a good idea to understand what you're in for. Because it's intense and is a workout. Heather, who is in intimidatingly good shape, might be up there smiling, but she's smiling as you're literally getting your body destroyed. It's an exercise in therapeutic masochism and nobody talks about it. It's phenomenal and I've brought everyone I can convince to come with me. I refer to it as 90 Minutes of Hell in the Cell, but to me, that's what I'm exactly what I'm looking for in it. I just get in trouble with everyone who knows the actual names of the poses, because I refer to them as things like Afghanistan-asana.
I understand that the founder of Bikram Yoga has some background. I also understand this location is independent and does not associate directly with him. Sometimes you die a hero, sometimes live long enough to see yourself become the villain. It's interesting this is a deal in Utah, because supporting religious leaders even after they do egregious things is what we do.
The location itself is great. The facility is clean and it doesn't smell like other hot yoga studios. The bathrooms and showers are great. All of the teachers are...
Read moreI restarted my Hatha Yoga journey shortly after recovering & healing from my second knee scope summer 2017. Exuberant yoga family I have today. Fundamentally compiling a short list of say from a very long list that I could really go on for some time about SLC Bikram Yoga. Super clean and clean from my exposure in a medical field & clean room environment the clean team yogin’s are stunning out of this cosmos world they resonate lots and lots of happiness. Seeing them in my regular practice as well as practicing. It’s been a journey reaching past a weekend warrior adding a few days to the work week and more and more. As I’m exploring more of my inner self, discovering vast amounts in endless adventures I experience with my practice. Amazing high ranking senior teachers, teacher teachers’ trainers, International and National Yoga Champion(s), current studio owners as well previous Hath Yoga studios. I’m counting 23ish yogis, happy human beings’ teachers driven with passion, peace and lots of love of life walking on the path of what I call liberation. They point the way I keep walking it as for me liberating the mind, body and freeing the soul. Beginner classes are throughout the week and weekend 6am if you're ready to experience nothing like before to many latter evening’s ones filled through the entire day. So, beginner classes integrated 3-4 times a week with an advanced 2 hour one with no passport needed to travel far distances within for this destination and all classes. With Yin Yoga and a few other flow classes just added so far on Sunday evening is truly a special treat. Maybe you can wind down and relax the mind & body hitting one of these after a 90 min Hot yoga class. I’ll close for now as I’m getting ready for their new Yin yoga donations they have added about once a month. Super-duper for me to do service AND enjoy the inner self sending vast amounts of energy outward. In today’s world for me this is serenity and...
Read moreBikram SLC has been the most amazing addition to my life, I don’t think I can recommend it highly enough. I started practicing here with their beginner 10 day pass. When that ran out I immediately bought the month pass and when that was finished I raced to buy the yearly unlimited pass. This studio is worth far more than any money I could spend here. The teaching staff is unparalleled in their knowledge and passion about their work. And they are eager to share this with anyone who wants to learn more, no gatekeeping here, which is very refreshing. The front desk staff are kind and helpful and clearly make great effort to know each client by name. The studio is spacious and beautiful and the bathrooms and front area are always clean and fresh. The students of Bikram SLC are respectful and dedicated, creating a positive, welcoming atmosphere. Bikram SLC offers a lot of class options with varying times, so I never have an excuse to skip a workout. Lately, I have loved including the new Inferno Hot Pilates and Yin Yoga to my yoga routine. The diversity of these classes along with the traditional Bikram practice has made me feel stronger than ever and every time I walk into this studio I know I am rewarding myself. Thank you to the owners, teachers, and support staff that run such a high quality...
