(Update April 19th)
I am updating my experience here as a positive after receiving a great apology letter from the owner. Hearing the issues that I have experienced the store owner Tim had personal emailed me an apology letter and informed me of the changes they are making to fix these issues. Tim had stepped up and delivered excellent customer service. I would recommend Game Night Games as they really do care about their customers.
I had a very bad experience purchasing magic single cards from their website. After purchasing my chosen cards there was no choice to select in store pickup or delivery. I proceeded to fill out the order and the website had me put in my address and I received a confirmation email stating my order had been shipped. I had assumed that the cards were going to be shipped to my home, but after a few days I had decided to call the store to confirm the order.
The first employee that I spoke with informed me that the order was shipped and that there was no tracking details, but the order should arrive in a 3-5 days. He then said that something looked off about the order and had another employee look at it. The second employee then informed me that the order was never shipped and that I would need to come to the store to pick it up the order.
A few days later and little frustrated. I decided to drive down from Kaysville after work to pick up the order. However, when I arrived to pick up the cards one of the employees informed me that one of the cards on my order, that I had already paid for, wasnāt available and that they never had that card in the first place. I was very disappointed because I needed that card for a commander deck that I was playing that night.
After expressing my disappointment with the employees all I received was an apology and a refund for the card that was never there and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDisappointing unfortunately. Pros first: Nice atmosphere and great selection, and they have a gaming/tournament area that looks pretty accommodating. They have a small used game section too which is nice. Staff is usually helpful and friendly. Cons: Really just one big one. They are expensive. Every game I've checked has been nearly two times the cost of other places. I want to support local businesses, especially nice, niche businesses like this one, but I can't justify spending almost $50 for a game that's $26 online (in fact it was more expensive than every other store listed on boardgameprices), to use the example I ran into last weekend. Before I realized how expensive it was I ordered a game through the store that wasn't in stock. I knew it would cost more than online and I was willing to wait the week or two for it to get here because again, I wanted to support a local business. But it took almost a month to show up and when it did the price was twice as much. I wouldn't ever expect a brick and mortar store to have amazon prices, but when it's double, coupled with the slow shipping, I can't overlook that. Maybe I've just been really unlucky with the games I've wanted to buy, but I still go in just to browse and the pricing issue seems to be the pattern.
I know you guys at the store read and respond to the reviews which is awesome. I hope you can find a way to fix this issue because I would love to shop there. I imagine you'd sell way more if your prices were more competitive. You'd certainly have sold to me if that were the case, and I've heard this from other people too...they say, "yeah it's a great store but way overpriced."
Bottom line is if you're going for personal service and atmosphere and money is no object, this place is great. For the rest of us, brace your wallet...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTLDR Loved how there are so many game options. Many I've played before but also plenty that I've never seen or heard of. They seem to have everything organized in categories of either game type or game publisher and it works well. They also host community tournaments and game play sessions, which is cool. Would love to come back!
š FULL REVIEW šš» First time coming here and it was SO cool! I haven't been to a game store for a few years, but I love the atmosphere and seeing all the beautiful art styles and game options out there. It felt pretty well organized, although I wouldn't know how to find a specific game if you asked me. It looked like it was organized by either game publisher or game type(if the game has a lot of expansions or additional content).
š²GAME SELECTION Was happy to find many games that I love and also plenty of games that I've never seen or played before. Outside of games they also have a fairly large section of figurine paints and other figurine materials (for games like DND or anything else you want figurines for).
⨠ATMOSPHERE This store had a cozy atmosphere to me. I enjoyed being there and getting lost in all the games. One of the things I love most about shops like this is seeing all of the game artwork and there's lots to see here. I honestly stayed longer than I expected just browsing and checking out both the artwork and the diverse games that were available. I could have stayed much longer. They also were hosting a game tournament (I believe Pokemon TGC) and my boyfriend asked about it and they apparently host a bunch of different community game...
