AMAZING and GIFTED Mohs surgeon! I met Dr. Hansen after 7 years of dealing with what was ultimately diagnosed as basal cell carcinoma on the tip of my nose. To say that I was anxious and frustrated after years of misdiagnoses and botched attempts to fix other attempts, is an enormous understatement. By the time I had my first consult with Dr. Hansen I lacked ANY trust in the field of dermatology and felt completely betrayed by the multiple medical professionals who sent me down the incorrect path without first ordering a biopsy. I put Dr. Hansen and his entire staff through the ringer with a ridiculous amount of questions and concerns and I'm POSITIVE I presented myself as the most difficult potential patient he had ever worked with. Long story short, within 3 minutes of meeting Dr. Hansen, I KNEW I could trust him not only to remove the cancer but to do the repair (in lieu of having a plastic surgeon repair the surgical site). The complete procedure took place in his office. I was comfortable the entire time and even laughed with him and his nurse during surgery. I would NEVER wish for skin cancer but in my case, the result I got after Mohs surgery from Dr. Hansen vs. the other surgeries I had when I didn't know cancer was present, felt like a miracle! My result is amazing! There are few physicians that not only have the medical and surgical skills to enhance (and save) lives but also have the gift of intuitively knowing how to treat each of their patients. As mentioned earlier, I will never wish for skin cancer...but if it recurs...I know who I will go to! I went to Dr. Hansen's SLC office to receive Mohs surgery. Though I have had a similar surgery prior to this visit, I was overly anxious. The caring patient receptionist who helped me fix my insurance records that seemed to be inaccurate, and then the nurse that came out to the reception area to walk me back and stayed close by through my entire procedure and visit was so calming and appreciated. As I arrived and sat in the procedure chair, the nurse told me what was to be expected during the visit, which occurred as she said. Dr. Hansen was very efficient in each part of completing the surgery. Care was also taken to make sure I was ok after the surgery, so that I didn't leave before I had my bearings. My experience was lovely, starting with the reception desk. I did not get the woman's name. She was dressed in bright colors & her glasses were great too. Very personable, friendly, kind. Gigi, the MA was so very nice & kind, caring. She walked me through the Mohs' procedure, explaining what to expect. Numbed my foot to tingling. Dr. Hansen was very nice as well. Explained the procedure. The procedure was quick. The incisions area was nice & smooth.
