I was verbally assaulted this morning by some sort of building authority who owned keys to the building. I was sitting below a tree not 3 feet away from the sidewalk. It was around 87 degrees today and wanted my small 20-pound pup to rest in the shade for a couple of minutes while my girlfriend ran into the Walgreens next door. A man walked outside and immediately started shouting at me to get off of the premises. I honestly didn't understand most of what he was saying but it was very obvious that I was only stopping for a moment to let my dog rest in the shade. I told him I understood that it was private property but that I would be gone within 5 minutes. He said that he was on his way to call the police and that I had no right to be there. It was so astounding to me that he could have such an attitude towards someone who literally lives not 3 blocks away...I've had a bad taste in my mouth. I cannot image how he would have acted toward someone in need. Completely unacceptable behavior towards anyone, let alone a pedestrian with a small dog and being very respectful of the space.
