Awesome venue especially if you are looking for an intimate experience with the artist. I've never been so close to a band. I could literally reach out and grab the microphone. Very genuine experience all around. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Really one of the closest experiences you can get with an artist. Venue was packed but that's what I expected. What an experience! Reminds me of the garage band days where you would go to someones house and they would play out of the garage!
You walk down a back alley lined with abandoned houses, garages, and industrial shops. Kind of sketchy area to be honest but you can't get this experience anywhere else. The street was falling apart not very many lights for security. The area is kind of in the scary part of town definitely was concerned about parking. However after the event nothing happened to our vehicle or our belongings. The venue is a old garage / courtyard converted into a merch booth, ticket booth and a stage. The stage is in the two car garage, and barely has enough room for the artists and equipment. Sound system was great not sure if it was artist specific but it was loud, loudest I've ever heard. Definitely should consider ear plugs!
Tickets were surprisingly cheap for the artist that we saw $20 a peice to see Lewis Del Mar.
COVID-19: I think it's pretty much up to the artist not really the venue. The artist required masks and proof of vaccination however upon entry no one was checked for vaccinations. Everyone was wearing masks. Definitely no possibility of social distancing or sanitation procedures. I get it at this point it's a concert you can't ask for much but if you are concerned I wouldn't recommend going. It's a live venue very close to the stage, shoulder to shoulder standing room only is what you will get here. I didn't expect much more it's literally a two-car garage packed full of people and the band. Unless it's a block party then it's probably a bit better. Even with the covid situation it was worth it you can't get this experience anywhere else.
TLDR: Overall would recommend especially with how close you can get to the artist. The venue has a lot of character and history. Lots of big artists played here before they got big It's worth all the craziness to...
Read moreKilby Court is the name-brand local spot for the grunge/punk live music scene in Salt Lake City. Tickets are always reasonable (usually around $10) and the line is never too long. For those who havenât been before, Kilby court is essentially a large garage with a backyard. Most nights include around 3 bands and the crowd is always ready to have a good time. In the summer, the main room does get hot, but they do their best to ventilate the area and have fans. When a particularly popular band plays, the crowd can get LIVELY, so prepare to have a good time and a sore neck from head banging all night.
A typical night at Kilby is watching the bands about 80% of the time, and meeting cool people outside for the other 20%. The environment and social scene Killby court provides is fantastic, and its positive impact in the SLC community is something that shouldnât go unnoticed. The typical crowd is typically teens-late 20s, however all ages are welcome and attend. Most attendees typically wear punk rock/ grunge attire, if that helps with any planning.
Kilby is incredibly LOUD, and if you donât have hearing protection you will most likely leave with ringing ears. This isnât necessarily a fault of Kilby, but I would highly recommend some type of hearing protection if that's your style. If hearing protection isnât your style, hell yeah and rock on.
The annual Kilby Court block party in downtown SLC is incredible, and one of the highlights of the year for many of my friends. I would highly recommend getting a ticket if youâre considering the idea. It can get hot, but what outdoor concert isn't? The selection of bands and the energy of the block party is always ideal, and it's a great experience as long as youâre ok with crowds.
Kilby court is iconic, and Iâm grateful for its impact in SLC specifically. Many successful bands have played here, and the name Kilby court holds a special place in the hearts of many musicians and fans alike. If youâre looking for a good time with live music, look up the upcoming shows and make a...
Read moreI was there last night and the bands were amazing. I come all the time and love it. My experience last night was different because the only dude working there was after me the whole time. I had a clear water bottle that he said I couldn't bring in even if I dumped it, so I had to walk all the way back to my car, which I don't really understand why I can't bring in an empty water bottle y'all have more security than an airport. But whatever, not a big deal. Not even 5 mins later I try to reenter and he comes after me asking to see me stamp. He saw maybe a few people after me, I seriously doubt he forgot that he just let me in. Then my friend who brought me, who was hired by Bleacher Babe to be a photographer brought me through the artist entrance (where all the photographers were coming through) and he came and yelled at us saying we had to leave. I spoke up for her saying she was hired and he didn't believe us. He said we weren't on the list, which how in the world would he know that he didn't even ask for our names. Then he kicked us out of there so we just went to the normal entrance and she struggled to get any good photos. Just not a flexible guy in the slightest. Pissed off energy for a $10 concert with mostly family and friends. It's not that deep, normally your staff is friendly and communicative. I don't know what...
