Of course, there may be plenty of places in town that offer the luxury city feeling you may desire, but I would highly recommend Crystal Inn for many reasons. The price of this hotel was great considering the great, accessible location, parking is also included, which is a nice touch. Very close and walkable to everything, with good restaurants just a block or so over. For your convenience, if you so desire, McDonald's is even open next door what seems to be all hours of the day. The hotel offers complimentary continental breakfast (not my thing, but it's nice that they offer it) with a good variety also, as well as coffee - even a dispenser for iced coffee. Their little store with snacks and goodies has the biggest variety of pick me ups offered by a hotel. My husband and I stayed a few days here in SLC for the first time, and the general consensus of people, including your team here at this hotel, was the service and friendliness were exemplary. I would like to give a big kudos to Emerson (I believe that was his name) whose kindness really stood out. He was so kind and patient from the moment we checked in, even giving us a list of restaurants that were open on Thanksgivings, and when I asked about local activities, he wrote down some suggestions for local things to do. Excellent service and very kind. We got the 'vip' upgrade perhaps because we booked with Expedia, but nevertheless, I was very surprised to stay in the room with the big jetted tub in it. They also offered us bottled water and a few snacks. The room furnishings were average of what you'd expect, but everything was very clean. The bathtub in the room was sparkling clean - this was even better than the time we booked a room in a major Vegas hotel with a tub, that wound up having hair and dirt in it. The bed was comfortable, lots of places to charge things, and good space for all your stuff. The hotel also has an indoor pool, sauna, and gym. Once again, the hotel is not fancy or upscale, or modern at all, but everything is clean, comfortable, upkept, and the people are nice - this is an anomaly when you come from...
Read moreMy friend and I had made a reservation for a hotel room together. When she arrived at the property and was making her way upstairs to meet me, hotel staff intercepted her and asked her to leave the premises. Based on the circumstances and manner of their approach, it was clear that their actions were motivated by racial discrimination.
Shortly afterward, the hotel manager contacted me directly with what appeared to be fabricated justifications for their treatment of my friend. The manager claimed that an “unverified person” had attempted to enter the building and that they had refused her entry. They went further to make completely unfounded and offensive allegations, stating that they don’t permit “illegal activities or trafficking” on the property, and even threatened to involve law enforcement.
This situation was deeply problematic on multiple levels. Not only did the hotel staff engage in clear racial profiling and harassment of my friend, but management then attempted to criminalize her mere presence at a hotel where we had a legitimate reservation. The threat to call police over a guest’s legal right to access a room they had booked was particularly concerning and escalatory.
Beyond the discriminatory treatment, the room itself was in poor condition. It had an unpleasant odor, and basic amenities that guests would reasonably expect—such as shampoo and conditioner—were missing from the bathroom.
This was an utterly unacceptable experience involving racial discrimination, harassment, false accusations, and substandard accommodations. I will not be returning to this establishment under any...
Read moreMy experience started outside. Curb appeal. The homeless encampment and the homeless wandering the parking lot certainly did not make me fee welcome. But i get that his issue is something the hotel can not control. When i approach the front desk, the gentleman that was helping me seemed distracted. Never made eye contact with me, literally never. He always looked somewhere else or looked down the whole time. He only spoke to me about the information for the reservation. Name, email, etc. He spoke more to the guest being helped by his colleague about the guests reward points. Then the next conversation was how he’ll track down who ever was smoking weed on the first floor.
The next detail that i found off putting was the signs literally everywhere that says housekeeping only available upon request. So I already got the impression that rooms aren’t clean.
I get to my room and it feels dark. Not welcoming at all. The lights take 2 seconds to turn on after you hit the switch.
The carpet needed to be vacuumed. The sink was slow to drain. The headboard had hand prints all over it. The wall paper in the bathroom was peeling and had obvious seems from when they were applying it.
The hot water in the shower is non existent. On the hottest setting, the water was only Luke warm and on,y lasted about 3 min.
I dont know if it was the bed or pillows or just my uneasy feeling of being there but I had a horrible night sleep. I just wanted to check out the next morning and leave.
I overall was dissatisfied with my stay here. I would recommend others to stay somewhere else when seeking a room in this...
