Warning: We may loose some of our access to the South and North Embarcadero Marina Parks in 2015 unless we take action. Please read.Easy to come here after work at 6pm and get in some stress management with exercise with the dog. The meters end at 6 pm at the south and north marina parks making it user friendly for Sandiegans. Dogs are not allowed on the bus but i can park there after 6pm and bring my dog in my car. Used to go to the Tuna Harbor area after work but the port authority changed the parking meters from 6pm ending to 8pm ending and increased the meter rates to $1.75 per hour which discourages san diegans like myself from using that boardwalk area for some wholesome exercise. I would have to feed the meter up to $40 per month to park near Tuna Harbor for some after work exercise so the port authority has discouraged me / us from using that wonderful boardwalk area around Tuna Harbor..The meters are free at the South and North Marinas for 2 hours on sundays mid day and that is a fantastic encouragement for families to enjoy the park mid day Sundays. The Port Authority has dropped the two hour free parking on sundays at Tuna Harbor and Meters just north of the Merry Go round at SeaPort Village north to Star of India. Shameful the trend that seems to be going on to turn the areas over to the tourist trade and in effect discourage san diegans from enjoying the down town bay on a regular basis. The glass is still half full because we still have the wonderful North and South Marinas with meters ending at 6 pm and free 2 hour parking mid day on Sundays. Lets hope the S.D U.Port District does not take that last area from us. We can contact our City Counsel people to voice our opinion and make a difference to keep our boardwalk area in this gorgeous area for the people who live here with a better balance between the natives and the...
Read moreNEED VITAMIN SEA? You'll love Embarcadero Marina Park! It's home to the gorgeous Rady Shell which hosts world renowned artists, orchestras, and events. It also has a sizable park and seaside walkway/path that circles the entire little island. You'll get magnificent views of the San Diego harbor and Coronado! I had to wait in line for an event at this park and it was the best time I've ever spent waiting in line!
The park is great for all types of guests. Runners, joggers, and brisk walkers (like me haha) will all love this. It's so laid back and you can easily take your time here and even have a picnic or spend the day! I didn't spot any bathrooms on this trip so I would recommend using the facilities before visiting.
There's basketball courts and long stretches of grass that are great for families and friends! I've never had a bad experience here as everyone keeps to themselves and is mellow. If you're hungry, there's even a Joe's Crab Shack here! It's got ocean views and it's right in the park!
Parking is very limited here, locals like to park a bit further down by seaport and walk down. I called an Uber while I was visiting the park and it had a great drop-off/pick-up roundabout for rideshare...
Read moreThis is a fabulous concert venue in the Summer months, where you can spread out a blanket and take in musical or theatre events- located right behind the Convention Center, if you are attending an event, think about bringing a jacket after dark or layered clothes, as it gets windy and it's on the bayfront. Sometimes folding chairs, coolers are allowed and other events prohibited to be sure to check in advance what the rules are as they change based on what's going on there. On a typical, non event day expect to stroll around with great bayfront views, only 5 minutes from the Convention Center on foot so you get a lot of locals as well as people just out running, walking, or fishing. There are a few good places to fish on the piers, and the little part time restaurant is open with good food, mostly sandwiches but healthy choices and burgers...the park wraps around to vistas of the Coronado Bridge, and the megayachts that are sometimes berthed behind the Convention Center. You can catch a ride over to Coronado right at the base of the park by water...
