Monica checked us in on Saturday, July 9th. Very helpful and pleasant. Haven't seen her since... Maybe our schedules are off. 👍👌
Since we were checking in for Saturday the 9th-Sunday the 17th, we were told that our suite would be cleaned once. Easy to obtain more towels, toilet paper and coffee, by requesting at the Front Desk. Didn't think that would be an issue, (having the room cleaned only once) until day 6 when the trash was piling up and we desperately needed another couple sets of towels. We approached the front desk before going out for breakfast at 0655 hrs. We mentioned that our suite had not been tended to since we checked in and was hoping that the one cleaning could be this day. The front desk clerk let us know that it shouldn't be a problem as the request was made so early in the day. We left for breakfast, returned about 0800, and left again at 0945. I returned at 1230 and the trash had not been tended to, and no new towels. I called the front desk to check on the request and was told that it wouldn't be today, but they would "try" to get to the trash and linen (towels). About 2pm, I ended up putting the trash outside in the hallway. I returned to the suite about 330pm, and it had been cleaned. They actually cleaned two days in a row.
24 hr. laundry available. Came in handy! $2.75 to wash and $2.75 to dry. Takes credit/debit cards! You can also go to the front desk to get quarters! Timers on each so you can set your watch/ phone to come swap it over. 🧺
Full refrigerator, microwave, sink, dishwasher, burners and toaster in suite. Plates, silverware, etc. Many local options are close by and handy to get water, snacks, etc. We did dishes once since we've been here using the dishwasher and we'll end up doing another load as well! Very convenient. Room darkening curtains and excellent air conditioning kept the room in prime snoozing mode! .
On the East Coast (home), I'm up and working out by 0500 hrs... Fitness center is not 24 hr. access. Opens at 0600 which is kind of a bummer when you're looking to get your workout in early. Very small fitness center... one bench and free weights. Handful of cardio equipment. Tight quarters. Heavily in use at 0600. 🏋♀️💪🏃♀️
Standard buffet style breakfast with muffins , toast 🍞, bagels 🥯 , oatmeal with many topping options, sausage/meat, eggs🥚, and usually potatoes🥔. Fresh fruit offered to include apples🍎, pears🍐, bananas🍌. Fat free mil🥛, yogurt. 4 different types of juice available from a machine. Coffee, tea. ☕️🍵
Pool was nice, located on the 3rd floor. Confined by 4 walls with no views of the city unless you're in the fitness center, which the windows look down on Fifth. Pool is 3 feet deep with just enough space to cool off after working on your tan poolside. 👙🏊♀️ About a dozen lounge chairs and a half dozen tables and chairs, with a grill for use. The sun really hit the pool area from about noon-5pm.
Super awesome location! Many amazing food spots close to the hotel. Within walking distance to the Convention Center and...
Read moreI was very fortunate to get a room here just two blocks away from Petco Park on Bonvoy Redemption (Thanks, Credit Card!) as my friend from Escondido would join me in Downtown SD for The Padres vs Colorado Rockies on Sat. September 13th, 2025. We drove in separate vehicles, as I came down from LA and Bill came down from Escondido on I-15 to 163. I arrived just after 3pm, with Bill pulling up behind me just moments later. The game was a 5:40pm start, so we had a short time to check-in, drop luggage and meet friends at BUB’S Restaurant just a block away!! Location was everything here, as we didn’t need our cars again until checkout on Sunday at 4pm (Thanks to Bonvoy Platinum). Our agent was “Jay”, and though he wasn’t as talkative or social as other reps, he said what he had to say at check-in, yet keeping remarks short and to the point. Jay provided is Room 411, who a King Bed and sofa bed. Bill and I didn’t mind sleeping on King Bed as we had space on the bed between us to sleep comfortably. We headed to BUB’S with relative ease, then another long block to the rear entrance of Petco Park via Gallagher Square. My Padres won BIG over Colorado Rockies 11-3 in another packed sell out on Saturday night!! After the game, we usually go to the multilevel parking structure nearby and drive away to our usual Marriott (Courtyard by Marriott Rancho Bernardo) but, we had our vehicles covered at the Residence Inn just two blocks away! Bill and “Yours Truly” enjoyed walking The Gaslamp” with no worries, got some goodies at 7/11 store and delicious carne asada tacos from “Taco Centro” just caddy corner from this hotel. A perfect way to end my Saturday night by eating in my room which included a full kitchen. Late night noise was not an issue, and to see Margaritaville Hotel’s Neon lights and the building awash in light across the street from our fourth floor room was impressive. We slept late, as we had the 4pm checkout, and listened to the Sunday Padres game on 97.3 in the room. As I left after 4pm to head up north for home, I caught the end of game on the radio and My Padres WON, taking two of three from Colorado. A Winning Weekend! Overall, I would definitely return if I get the redemption, and leave my vehicle at my friends’ house in Escondido by carpooling with Bill. Staff were helpful and friendly, FIVE CLAWS UP!!!!! Thanks for reading my review of Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. Bear Hugs - Joe Goria,...
Read moreI really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was a really nice hotel. I was nervous about the hotel and the location but I did a really great job. When I arrived at the hotel, the hotel valet parking attendants made me feel so welcome with their greeting while opening the door for me. They were very quick to assist with my luggages and my safety while getting out the car. The outside of the hotel was very clean. The entrance of the hotel and inside of the hotel was very clean. The guest services representative all had smiles on their faces. The check-in process was quick. I was a little disappointed because at the time of check-in because they only had a king size bed wheelchair accessible room available but they let me know that in the morning they may be able to change my room. Needless to say, they were still able to place me on the 14th floor. The view was nice. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. I thought something was wrong with the tub and the toilet and I reported it the next morning. The guest service representative was very understandable and made note of the complaint right away. She was able to move me to another room which was an upgrade to a one bedroom suite at no extra cost. The plumber was at my door within minutes. It wasn’t a long wait at all. Unfortunately, I didn’t know how to use the tub and the toilet was ok. The noise I was hearing was part of the hotel water heating system. I was so embarrassed. I loved the one bedroom suite. I felt more comfortable. I felt like l was at home away from home. The view was better. I had two windows instead of one which brought more lighten in the room. The room was more spacious. I loved the shower the most in the bathroom especially the glass door feature. The queen size bed was as comfortable as the king size. It was clean. I loved the two televisions that was in the suite. It was just so nice. I miss my room now. The housekeeper did an ok job in keeping my room clean. The breakfast was nice. It had a variety of hot and cold breakfast options and you just choose what you want. The location of the hotel was ideal. I was able to walk to anything that I could have think about. For example: restaurants, park, mall, nail shop, yogurt shop, and pharmacy. They were four restaurants right across the street. One of which I was able to get breakfast and it was good. Overall, I loved, I repeat, loved my stay at Residence Inn...
