Predatory Towing Practices
I had an extremely negative experience at Marshalls La Jolla due to what I believe are predatory towing practices. I parked in the lot and spent just over three hours shopping at the mall. When I returned, my car had been towed—despite the fact that I had a receipt showing I had made purchases at Marshalls before the tow occurred. In other words, this was not a case of someone running into the store after the fact to fabricate proof; I had genuinely been shopping there.
What makes this situation worse is that my car was towed exactly at the three-hour mark. This strongly suggests that the tow company was contacted in advance to ensure removal at the precise limit. I spoke with the property manager to explain my circumstances, and while he initially indicated he would assist, he never followed up, failed to contact the tow company on my behalf, and ignored my subsequent calls.
This happened during the holiday season when I needed more time than usual to shop for Christmas gifts. To tow paying customers in this way—especially during the busiest time of year—is incredibly predatory. Given that this shopping center is adjacent to UCSD, many of its visitors are students and government employees, groups for whom a surprise towing bill can create significant hardship.
Because of this experience, I will not be returning to this mall and strongly recommend others avoid it as well. Imagine going to see a long movie or doing your holiday shopping here, only to walk out with your bags and discover your car is gone. This kind of treatment of customers is...

Public transportation is just about to excellent as the new trolley/train is being built throughout the city so getting around is and will be even easier. If you've driven by the huge white Mormon Cathedral style looking church o your commute in the I-5 this is what lurks between La Jalla Vullage Drive through Nobel Drive, with the I-52 East/West and I-805 all interconnected Check this place out next time your here. I do have to say The Ralph's is an experience and is my Staple(being a healthy lad this us still my favorite, but yes everything seems carefully thought out for those college students nearby!...

As somebody who doesn't drive much, and so spends most of his time walking around, the parking lot looks confusing. Seeing the many fender benders, and even a Uhaul caught on the overhead railing, suggests to me that the college students who shop here are at least as confused as I am. Located just a block away from UCSD campus, and around a 30 minute walk away from the center of campus, this is the place that students would be most likely to go once they run out of dining dollars (UCSD currency), or once they decide that UCSD food is not optimal for their learning.
Being forced to shop here means that the prices might be jacked up and we wouldn't know (and as somebody who shops here all the time, I really don't know). But the positive is that there's a lot of variety of shops. If only there were better ways to walk around the area and make it seem more like a shopping center, and less like random shops that happen to be close together, but good luck navigating the maze to get to where you need to go.
Anyway, the shops and markets themselves are...
