After 2 years of living here, there are several issues that have never been resolved, due to incompetence and neglect from the management team/ corporate at LUX UTC. To begin: Living at LUX is like living at a posh museum. The hours on the amenities compare to those at retirement communities, and do not allow for residents to enjoy sunrise on the rooftop we are paying a fortune for. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the management took the opportunity to cancel the highly promoted amenities and events at LUX without adjusting the price of rent. There has not been a single event (even a COVID-safe event attempt) or service provided (such as baked goods occasionally, food tastings, etc). No excuse for this whatsoever when many local apartment communities tried to come up with ideas for COVID-safe events. Nope not LUX. They were just happy to save money. This building advertised a Towncar operating for the residents but they have since stopped the service with no return date in site. Valet has left the property. If you live here be prepared never to rest from construction sounds as there will be several more buildings built in the coming future around the corner. The gym is no longer 24/7 as advertised. The trash room has so many flies, gnats, and pests that fly up through the trash chutes onto trash rooms on each floor, and the smell of trash is always somewhat lingering in the hallways (no matter how much air freshener they try to choke us with). This is the only luxury property around without a doorman, building manager, or valet/security onsite 24/7 and you cannot get into the building without a FOB. The management team actually has the audacity to stay out of office now on Sunday and Monday, making it even harder to coordinate deliveries. Sure they are nice to you when you are trying to rent something in the building but they have consistently failed to address resident issues. It is a constant struggle to get anything delivered, you constantly have to deal with missed deliveries, stolen packages, and just complete neglect from the management team to solve this issue as capacity increased in the building. I no longer feel safe walking up the building entrance in the parking or in front because more often than not there are strangers waiting for someone to let them into the building. This building does not deserve stars for the beautiful apartments - we are paying for them. The service right now deserves 0 stars. If you are older, or have limited mobility, this is the worst place to live because you cannot rely on your necessities being delivered reliably, safely, even during a pandemic. COVID-safe deliveries do not exist at LUX. Good luck tracking your packages around the property. The only good thing remaining at LUX is the maintenance team/ custodial team, Julio in particular, for their prompt and excellent service. The custodial team does a wonderful job keeping the property clean, despite the nastiness from some residents and their inability...
Read moreI thought it was going well. I viewed several apartments and decided on a lovely unit I was excited about renting. The paperwork was complete and I paid my application fee + the deposit with my credit card. I went away to gather financials and submitted to their very invasive PayScore income verification, which obtained not only my income but also checking/savings balances + transactions from 2 different banks. After all this was verified, I was told that the two additional bank statements I provided (before I decided to go ahead and submit to the PayScore process) were invalid because I had blacked out part of my account number. I was told that "there's just no way we can know these aren't the same account." They were literally posted on the different banks' unique stationary and the balances matched PayScore. Flash forward 1-2 days... I had to call several times to check in on the status of my application. Once it was agreed that... ok... perhaps my income/finances were verified-enough, I was then asked to call my credit card company because THEY had an issue with posting the transaction. My application fee had posted, but there was a "glitch" in their system when it came to the deposit (it was one/the same transaction on my end, btw) and they wanted ME to research it. If it didn't post, why didn't they look into and just run my card again? I had to do way too much footwork and chase my own sale, so I eventually gave up and backed out. I'm already packing/moving--this was a slam dunk sale for them, but instead, they made for a stressful process. I was really bummed, because I thought my search had ended and I was set on this rental. When I told them I was moving on, there was no effort whatsoever to make it right and get me in the door. What I was told instead: that's too bad, but we're keeping the $50 application fee. I was also asked to write a review... so here it is.
Something notable, if you want info on the property: the deodorizer in the hallways is so strong it'll choke you. The reason: covering dog smells. Also, I was told celebrities and professionals live here (one of their selling points, I guess), but I think it's more student housing--I saw a lot of 20-somethings roaming around. The units themselves are very nice and the gym was the selling point for me... but just wasn't worth all the stress and hoops I had to jump through to get...
Read moreThe apartments are beautiful, staff are kind and helpful, and amenities are great. Unfortunately, every week day has involved nonstop construction noises, for months. If you are unbothered by metal on metal grinding sounds or don’t work from home, you will be fine. While the new building will be complete fall/winter of 2022, the website suggests that here will be a third tower, which has not been built yet. Perhaps asking whether your apartment faces construction (west side right now) would alleviate this constant drilling/grinding noise. Similarly, despite being on the upper half of the building (height-wise) my balcony/patio is essentially useless because it is constantly covered in dust/dirt from construction. Separately, for a “luxury” building at its price point, a lot of basic elements of apartment living are missing. For example, there is no buzzer system (the main doors have the systems, but they are not connected to any apartments), no apartment windows open and the patio door has no screen to prevent bugs/dirt, the Nest AC stops working every couple months, there are very limited hours/days for doorman/staff (i.e. no deliveries to door and a “valet” service that is sporadically available but doesn’t have a clear function), and limited guest parking which is often full. After Fall/Winter 2022 (or whenever construction ends), this review will no longer be accurate, but for now, it is accurate for an apartment on the west side of the building. Again, the staff are amazing, the apartments are beautiful, but for the price point and with the never-ending construction, I can’t say it’s a very good...
