I’ve been coming to AMC Metreon for many years, and although it’s served me well in the past I am truly disappointed at the way in which the staff dismissed us and generally handled the Nosferatu preview screening tonight. My partner and I arrived early, as suggested in the email, over two hours early, as did many other folks ahead of us and behind us in line. As they began admitting people from the online RSVP section (which was irresponsibly oversold), the staff redirected the line, which had no demarcations, ropes, stanchions, or visual cues in a different direction by shouting an announcement into the large open lobby. This caused a chaos as people shuffled to the new line and many folks in large parties took advantage of the opening and skipped the line. The party of six that was directly behind us in line for nearly the entire time got in to the movie because that unnecessary rerouting took place, but we didn’t. When the capacity was eventually cut off at a couple of groups ahead of us, the staff would not acknowledge that the planning was disorganized despite many complaints of the unnecessary line re-routing shortly before the screening. They did not take any responsibility for their work and when asked if they could escalate this issue to whomever was in charge of organizing these kinds of events the requests were dismissed and they said “this was first come first serve we can’t do anything for you but offer an apology”. We did come first but we weren’t served. However, what I was asking for at that point wasn’t a seat in a full theater, but accountability, which the staff were not ready to own up to either. The lack of planning and refusal to be accountable creates bad will among the patrons. AMC staff had me and many other folks leaving upset. I had a bad time, after spending a lot of money on concessions and over two hours of my time to not see a movie. There are many other cinemas that do preview shows with much more organized RSVP planning, and there are several cinemas with better customer service in SF who make it a point to generate good will,...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting this theater. My boyfriend and I were taking a short vacation in SF. We arrived at the mall. On the first floor, they have kiosks, which you can select, buy, and print your movie tickets. It was simple and easy to use. You could see all the available times and seats. We chose to watch Conjuring 3 later that day.
We arrived about 30 minutes early. I highly suggest that you use a ride service to get to this location. There is zero available parking around this building. Parking will be a hassle. The actual theater is on the third floor, so we took the elevator.
We ordered popcorn and alcoholic drinks at a separate counter. They were running low on many different alcohols. We settled for a wine cooler sangria. It was a bit bitter. It was okay. Very overpriced for the tiny 8oz cup they give you. But all the food and drinks at the theater are overpriced.
We presented our ticket to the employee and were told where our movie is being shown. It was kinda hard to get to our seats. There were 2 metal rods blocking the middle of the row in the back. I have no idea why they had a metal rod blocking the row. We climbed over it because we had drinks. I didn't want to trip climbing down and finding another way.
The seats were comfortable. You could lean back and lift the arm rest, so you could get closer to your partner. We liked the movie. Good picture and sound. It was easy to find the restroom, which was spacious and clean. One thing that concerned me was that my boyfriend swore he saw a cockroach. Definitely don't leave your bag on the floor.
Overall, a good experience with regards...
Read moreMetreon is our favourite cinema theatre in San Francisco for watching ongoing blockbusters. There are many auditoriums with big screen, plenty of space and organised line for food. The best and the biggest auditorium is IMAX, for sure. However, few of the seats are broken - the back of a seat doesn't hold the vertical position, so, visitor feels as he's lying rather than sitting. Many Real3D auditoriums have super convenient seats with different position modes for the back and legs, we really enjoy it. Moreover, there are the physical boundaries between the rows, so, you will no longer feel a kick from a neighbour behind. The crew is helpful and nice to the visitors. Once, we had the ticket collision. Some guys had bought the tickets from Fandango, when we'd bought them from AMC during The Avengers rush time. When we came to the auditorium we realised that our seats were occupied by other couple with completely valid tickets. We asked a crew member for help and he gave us 2 available seats at the last row with nice view when the whole auditorium was occupied. He suggested free popcorn and beverages for this inconvenience. Also, I want to share our experience of having memberships of AMC. We've bought AMC A-list memberships and visit the theatre quite often. It's absolutely worth it - membership costs around 20$ whereas one IMAX ticket costs 17$, but for this price we could watch 3 movies per week. We reimburse our AMC account savings on a popcorn or other food - sometimes we got them completely...
