First time visiting Tropisueño today and it was a very pleasant experience. Tropisueño is a Mexican restaurant nearly tucked away across from Yerba Buena Park, behind historic Saint Patrick church, and adjacent to the Contemporary Jewish Museum. How’s that for directions?! Tropisueño is part of a string of eateries at this location - next to them is Delarosa (pizza), an Indian Restaurant, Mixt Greens, and a newly opened winery! As you’ll see from the pictures, there is ample outdoor seating and indoor (dine in) space available. I took the family today during the lunch / happy hour {11 am - 4:30 pm}. During this time, patrons are encouraged to place an order at the counter, takeout style, pay for their order at the counter and choose to dine in or take out. This method was really efficient and convenient as they quickly were able to disperse building lines of people. I chose to dine in after placing my order. Each order comes with tortilla chips and three (3) types of dipping sauces. There was something orange that had some kick to it, a darker brown which had flavor, and guacamole. If placing an order to dine in, they will give you a number to put on your table, so that the waitress can find and bring your food. This was a great way to ensure there wasn’t too many people waiting around and clogging up walkways. I ordered the Grilled Shrimp Burrito and my wife ordered the Nachos with Cheese. Overall, the food was good! The atmosphere was family friendly and surprising spacious. There is a large bar with room to seat at least 10, if you’re celebrating or want some spirits with your meal. Overall, I would highly recommend this place and encourage you to try it for yourself!

Came here as a last minute decision after walking around Salesforce Park with my son and a friend. I ordered nachos, no meat, to share with my kid. Friend ordered tamales and a basket of chips. I also got horchata because the guy at the register said that a single bottle of jarritos was over $5??? The horchata was way smaller than I'm used to. We went to the table with our numbers and sat down. The food came out really fast which was surprising. The nachos tasted delicious but were... disappointing. There was not enough toppings to make it feel like nachos and the chips kept breaking. The way they laid them out was perfect, however. I hate when restaurants pile everything on top and they're hard to eat, but these were spread out the way they should be. Unfortunately there was too little toppings to even matter. The service was great but they kept speaking to us in Spanish. Luckily I understand it but none of us speak it lol. I mean we're brown so I get why, but when they realized we didn't speak it they spoke English eventually. I'd come again for dinner because it's the only time they serve platano frito but it's also really expensive for fried plantain. It's great location-wise, being right across from Yerba Buena and the metreon. The outdoor seating was also pleasant and I love all of the Succulents around the seating.

Of all the AMAZING service from the people who work here I would like to highlight the restaurant manager Kevino ( I hope I am spelling this correctly)

Kevino proves that not all heroes wear capes. While I’m not sure if he even realises the impact of his kind heart, I will be forever grateful to Kevino for being so supportive to me and going above and beyond his responsibilities.

On Saturday 22nd June; my husband baby and I came to have dinner at the restaurant around 9:30 pm ( shortly before the kitchen closed) so we made our order, got DELICIOUS food and a very very nice wonderful lady who served us ( I wish I knew her name but I hope someone reading this at the restaurant can add a comment here to let me know)

Around 10:30 ish ( I don’t remember the exact time) we were done with our meal and my husband knowing that the surrounding areas aren’t the safest, left me with my baby at the restaurant to go get our rental car from down the street at about a 5-6 minute walking distance.

I stood bang outside the restaurant to wait for him to arrive, when a man was casually walking by, he seemed very relaxed and for some reason I never felt uncomfortable but all of a sudden he started walking towards me and my toddler, who was sitting unstrapped in her stroller and then he said something to me.

I immediately understood I was in some risky space and so I quickly pushed the door open and walked back into the restaurant for a safe space: that’s when Kevino came walking in swiftly and locked the door immediately and I told him exactly what happened. He was so so so kind and told me not to worry at all. He assured me there was nothing to worry and that he would get us safely to our car.

While we were speaking I was shocked to see that the said man was sitting on a bench outside still waiting for me hoping I should exit anytime soon. Without me even asking Kevin offered to drop me to the car when my husband arrives and that put me at so much ease as I was almost having a panic attack especially since my toddler was with me and I needed to protect her.

Long story short Kevin and his staff walked us to the car and are the reason I’m sleeping well tonight. I honestly don’t know what could have happened and if anything would have happened at all but I do believe that the guy outside was onto something and if it wasn’t for Kevino I might have been mugged of all my belongings at the least.

To the restaurant management, I would like to urge you to hold onto this gem and give him a raise for me, we need to see more service providers like him. I’m saying this as someone who has traveled fairly well, people like Kevino are hard to come by! God bless you Kevino, I don’t know if you are religious but I did say a prayer for you today and I hope you receive all the blessings...

My husband and I came for my birthday Friday night and let me tell you the food and the service was awful. Our waiter Daniel was extremely rude and made various comments that made me and my friends very uncomfortable. My husband and I waited for our friends to arrive before we ordered our food and Daniel shouted at us several times saying that “we needed to hurry up and order” and that our reservation was at 7:30. Mind you our friends came at 7:40 and half of the tables in the restaurant were empty.

My husband ordered the Huaraches and his plate was dripping in oil and unedible. Our friend ordered the Pork Chop and had rancid sauce that smelled awful. All the food we ordered at our table was incredibly spicy and my 10 year old son ended up getting very sick. We even asked our waiter Daniel if my sons food would be spicy and he assured us it wasn’t. My son could not eat his food and we asked the waiter if we could substitute it for something else. He said yes and told us that he would not charged us.

When it came time to pay the check we noticed that our waiter Daniel charged us an additional $30.00 for my sons Tacos. We told him if he could remove this from the bill and he said yes. He comes out with a new receipt and we paid the bill.

The next day, after reviewing the receipt we noticed that Daniel CHARGED US FOR THE TACOS THAT HE TOLD US HE WAS GOING TO EXCHANGE!!! This was extremely rude to lie to our face. On top of it all it was my birthday and they did not even sing or offer a complimetery dessert like most other...
