San Francisco is full of surprises. There is a canyon in the city - what? I thought Stern Grove was a surprise. Some creeks run through here, so areas can be muddy - wear proper footwear even in summer. There are hills look like castle peak - extremely sunny; there are tree branches form low canopies over the trail - cooling. This trail has a little bit of everything. There are several trails in the canyon, if you get lost, just hop on the street and call a ride share or taxi.

It was a surprise to discover a beautiful green canyon in the bustling city of San Francisco. Islais Creek Trail is the main trail, all the way to Portola Dr., where the trail ends. This trail has everything, a creek, plenty of trees and shades, flowers and rocks. Such a delight! There are some uphill trails as well. I climbed up Turquoise Way Trail to Turquoise Way and walked by some residential houses and buildings to come back down to Islais Creek Trail.

parking is limited but we did a 4miles loop trail to twin peaks from here and it's highly recommended. there are restrooms and picnic area in the adjacent Glenn Park.

Still THE BEST walk in The City, especially with Islais Creek still running through it & all the beautiful wild flowers & blackberries that I've been since we were kids!! Not to mention the watercress & mustard greens that grows back there. Just gotta wash them well in water & white vinegar & a lil salt. Soak for 1/2 hour, rinse, pat dry & enjoy. Great sauteed with fresh chopped garlic or shallots in E.V.O.O. & finished with...
