My husband and I got married here, and while I can not speak for the docent-led tours I can say that the house is beautifully furnished (enough so that we didn't feel the need to add nearly any extra decorations); after renovations, it is now wheelchair-accessible from the right side of the house (with an elevator to aid passage between floors) and the lighting in the ballroom is brighter than we had been led to expect from some of the pictures on the website. (If you're planning on DJ'ing your own wedding, make sure you remember to bring the Bose stereo downstairs; the built-in sound system in the ballroom has a built-in volume limit.) The events coordinator was flexible and very understanding when we had to postpone the wedding due to delays in visa processing, which was a great help to us, particularly as I had to plan a lot of the wedding from across the country.
All in all, it's really a gem of a house; if you're considering it, I'd strongly suggest scheduling a visit to see it for yourself. And wedding rentals include a one-year membership to SF Heritage for couples! I look forward to visiting again when the work in the back garden...
Read moreWe found out about Haas Lilienthaal through a reddit post I believe, and it truly was an amazing venue for our wedding. It had the perfect mix of stately adornment, timeless-- almost imposing historic beauty, and a staff that can only be described as magnetic as they are charming. I think Woody may just have been our favorite person to work with throughout the entire wedding planning process. Easy going, no stress, and a natural problem solver. Hannah was also super helpful the day of with coordinating with our catering staff and day-of coordinator. they were attentive to all of our questions and needs, and was excited to share the history of this beautiful house with both us and our friends and family. Very excited for this place to open back up to the public this spring. It's a must visit, and a quintessential piece...
Read moreThis house is open from 12pm-3pm on Sunday. We have to park on the streets. The house tours are for every one hour that lasts an hour. This is the house that survived 1906 SF fires. Our tour guide,Mark, was awesome. He explained everything in detail. He told us, how it was during the Victorian era in SFO. The details were fascinating. The third floor of the house is closed for visitors. We have to enter through the accessibility entrance. There we can buy the tickets and wait for our tour to begin. I strongly recommend this house tour, if you are interested in early SF history and the architecture of its homes. Thank you Mark for explaining everything in detail and making our...
