Love it when you find a helpful, local business you can trust!!
Their customer service was the first thing that blew me away. I had just gotten off work and hurry over to City Car Radio as quick as I could. When I walk through the front door at 6:07pm and asked if they were closing, they gave no indication they were trying to get out of there (their closing time is 6:00, btw...)
I briefly described the problem I was having with my stereo "popping" quite loudly whenever I changed the song, unplugged my iPhone, or switched over to the radio. They told me to pull my car right in and they would start taking a look at it right away. I began talking with the owner John for a bit about stereos, driving and parking habits in the city vs. elsewhere, you know, the important life topics... Next thing I know my car was ready and pop free!!
Last time I had my radio looked for the same problem at another shop, they gave up after 5 minutes of "working through" the problem (like it was the radio gnomes wreaking havoc on my system). John and his guys had my car out of there working beautifully in 20-25 minutes even better than before.
Couldn't have asked for more. They stayed around after closing to help me, their rates were very reasonable after calling and comparing other shops, and they...
Read moreNick and Taylor have been working on my family's vehicles for over a decade now - our cars, through time, have ranged from American makes (Tesla), Japanese makes (Lexus, Toyota, Acura), and German makes (Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW).
Every project, whether big (e.g. wiring in a bluetooth/iPhone kit to a 2006 Porsche) or small (e.g. hardwiring my radar detector on a brand new 2021 Supra) they take on with no hesitation. And we are always beyond happy with the quality of the work done. For example, on the bluetooth/iPhone kit (Dension unit) done on our '06 Cayenne they were able to have my original OEM headunit work with steering wheels controls kept! For my radar detector (Uniden R7), they found a super discrete mirror mount and a great place to mount the external mute/function box!
The best part is that they walk you through what they plan to do so that you can provide feedback before anything is done - I personally have loved that because they also let me know why some of my initial thoughts may not be best for my intended use.
Service with these guys is top notch and it's not surprise why you'll always bump into their regulars when you're there for even...
Read moreNo a good place. I was there because my car alarm was not working. I went there and Mr. Nick wanted to install a whole brand new alarm system. for $350 because my car still had the manufacturer's alarm system. I asked him if it was possible that may be all I needed was a battery for my fog key, but he did not even took a look at it. I called other places in the East Bay area and explained that my alarm worked some times and some times did not work. Two people over the phone suggested that it was the battery and that I needed to replace it. Finally, I called The Toyota dealer and went there. They replace the battery of my fog key for 6 dollars. From 6 dollars to $350 is a big difference. I wished Mr. Nick would had taken a look at my fog key instead of suggesting to replace the whole alarm system with the store alarm system, but he did not even took a look at it. Bad customers' solutions at this store from an experienced car alarm specialist. Luckily, I suspected it was the battery and was able to save $354 dollars. I think he should be more aware that I could write a bad review and try to help people even if the purchase is a...
