You must eat here! I was so hungry, and the food looked so delicious in front of me, that I forgot to take a picture of it. It was The Bolognese pasta, and oh my God it was so freaking good! The waitress Mia was the sweetest thing ever, she was helpful she was full of information, she was down to earth she was proactive, we didn't have to ask for anything she thought of it first. Her name was MIA . As a matter of fact my dad said he was vegan and he wanted the little vegetable soup. Mia stopped at the table and said that she called the chef at home to see if there was any kind of chicken stock in the soup before she gave it to him because she wasn't sure and he had gone home for the day. Who takes that effort to do that, only Mia. It was the sweetest gesture ever. Her name was MIA! Mia was the best waitress we ever had. My dad had the veggie pizza with no cheese and he was in love. I was too even though I like cheese I'm going to have the pizza next time. It was so delicious and it was just a neighborhood Pub I had a cocktail which was like $6.50. It's like a local place but it's the food was absolutely fantastic. My mouth is watering writing this review. My dad who is a total tightwad told me if he had $100 he would leave Mia a $100 tip. And I think he did slip her like three $20 bills. I've never seen my dad do that ever ever. If I'm ever even close to that neighborhood I'm going back there. And I'm going to get extra Pizza To Go. I can't say enough good things about it. You have to go there!...

My dad and I came here when he was visiting and had the best experience. It was pouring pouring pouring and we were looking for a place that had TVs to watch the NCAA tournament as well as food for lunch... it was a surprisingly difficult thing to find! We stumbled upon the Bell Tower and enjoyed our experience so much, we came back later for dinner!

We sat in the upper area right in front of a huge TV. Dad got to enjoy the game and we both enjoyed the food and service. The servers were incredibly attentive, constantly checking on us, making sure our food was ok, refilling our drinks, etc. We shared the pulled pork nachos, which were delicious, and the chicken and brie sandwich. I didn't love the chicken sandwich, I thought it was pretty bland, but the nachos were great. The pulled pork gave them really nice flavor and they were super cheesy.

After going to see a movie, we tried to think of a place for dinner where we could finish up watching the games, and after our earlier experience we headed straight back to the Bell Tower. Again, impeccable service. Constant refills, friendly conversation, etc. I can't speak highly enough of the people working there. We had the cowboy spring rolls and the fried calamari (we were still full from lunch!) and both were good. The calamari came with a really nice thai sauce on the side, which we could have used more of, and the spring rolls were crunchy and delicious.

Overall, I'm a huge fan of the Bell Tower and will...

I give this 5 stars, not because it's the absolute best place with the best food and best service, but for 2 reasons:

  1. It IS the best in class neighborhood watering hole/bar in the area, and being that this is the Russian Hill/Nob Hill area, standards aren't low (granted this area doesn't exactly have an abundance of "local joints" and dives, trading affordability/downscale feel that some area residents may want for a greater selection of higher end establishments that seem to be more and more in demand as the years go by).

I think the food is quite good and reasonably priced, and the service is actually excellent given that they WANT you to come in over and over and feel right at home there.

  1. The kitchen is open until midnight (or at least they serve until midnight). That is a big deal in a city where everything generally closes by 10 or 11, even on Thurs-Sat nights, and there are only three 24H Walgreens and only three 24H diners I can think of. Which is amazing how limited one's options are for eating in this town past a certain hour, yet the clubs go til 3-5, or all night in some cases, and the city is filled with round the clock workers and workerbees, whether service industry, operations, finance, consulting, law, healthcare, or tech, the city is constantly buzzing but nowhere to eat when you need it.

That midnight kitchen has been a life...

This was a hot day in the city. I got married at City Hall then came here with friends for lunch. Honestly I was just happy we got a table big enough for all of us outside. Like I said, hot day The food was great. My friends enjoyed the potato wedges, wings, hamburgers and more. I split the spinach salad with walnuts and blue cheese and that was plenty of food. The salads are huge! We debated 2 weeks on where to have lunch accommodating everyone's taste. We're all regulars at the Cinch up the street. I said from the beginning let's just go to Bell Tower, then walk to the cinch afterwards After more discussions on where to eat and a few cancelled reservations, we decided last minute to go to the Bell Tower. I said that's where we should go from the beginning With drinks for a party of 8 the bill came about to just over 300 dollars. That means my wedding lunch came out to 37.50 per person. That's cheap for an after wedding lunch party Service was great too

We've been coming to BT since before Trump's Plague and were relieved that it survived that scourge. The food has always been unpretentious and generous, both in flavor and size. It's actually our go-to not only for late-night eats but for their pulled pork nachos and truffled macaroni and cheese. And french onion soup. The waitstaff has always been very friendly, diligent and personable. The prices are spot on. I really wish they'd open another place up at Tahoe because they'd do really well and their vibe is just what SLT needs. Parking can be a bit trying but it's worth it. There's no threat from semis or anything really bad (see my review about the mochi donut place in Sacramento) so you'll be safe crossing the street. Anyway take your appetite and go. You won't be disappointed.

We visited Bell Tower on a Wednesday evening for dinner, and the experience was a mixed bag. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. We ordered the escargot, French onion soup, and Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Unfortunately, it took about half an hour for the food to arrive. The escargot came with 6 pieces and two garlic breads. The flavor was okay, but the escargot themselves were small and not particularly memorable. The French onion soup was the highlight of our meal. It was acceptable, with a good aroma and taste. The Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which comes with balsamic onions, brie, and spinach, was served with fries. I saw lots of people ordering this and wanted to try it out. However, the chicken turned out to be really dry and plain in flavor.
