Raymond Kimbell Park was one of the most peaceful parks I had been to in a long time. I could just… sense myself feeling happier here, I can’t explain it. Maybe I have just been missing the city’s parks lately, haha. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures of the place, spare this bird I saw on a fence. This park, while small, has a good mix of everything: grass, diverse plants, a playground, sports-dedicated areas, and wildlife. It is also close to Japantown. The grassy area could be expanded, but I had no problem eating my lunch on one of the provided benches. I was surprised by the array of flowers, plants, and trees they had. They also had some succulents. I saw a hawk at the park, and many small birds that were flying about. I spotted some drinking out of the water fountain. Super cute! Even though there were a lot of people at the park when I visited, it was surprisingly quiet and calming. Overall, I really want to visit again in the future. 4/5.

This park is great for kids ! The astro/fake grass looks new and the play structures are plenty for kids 2 - 6 The size of this park is also good given the location in or near Fillmore Alamo Square area We will visit again !

There are many tables and chairs. Good for parents to sit and watch the children. The restroom should be serviced.

Had to take my hubby to Kaiser a few blocks away and didn't want to torture my 2 yr old by making him wait in the car for possibly up to an hour. For being in a somewhat "rough" area this is a really nice and a lot of thought clearly went into this playground! I only say that because it is in the heart of the Fillmore and while the entire playground is gated, there were still some sketchy characters on the Geary side of the park where it seems a couple people are living out of their cars and also on the overpass that you HAVE to use to cross Geary on foot. I parked on Geary but noticed there was a TON of parking there which I assume was mostly because of the small homeless population. However I never felt awkward and didn't mind parking where I did because the people living in their cars seemed pretty harmless (no obvious drug/alcohol useage, aggression etc) and I didnt feel the least bit worried mostly because it is a very populated area and for a Sunday afternoon there was a lot of people and kids around. But I did notice that a 30something white guy had called the cops and they appeared to look around the perimeter of the playground (cops greeted kids that yelled hi but no stickers😉) but I'm assuming never found their suspect. Didn't notice anything came of it but a I'm born and raised SFer so I wasn't really alarmed by it as like I said it is the Fillmore. Had to note that because I think some people wouldn't have been as comfortable as I was because like I said I'm born and raised in the city, so none of this is new to me but I'm also a parent now so you do keep a mental note of these things and know when/where you need to be a little extra vigilant. There are 2 structures one for smaller kiddos and toddlers and a bigger slightly more advanced one for bigger kids, and big enough for an Adult to follow a rambunctious daring little one. My 27 month old LOVED this park and while he didn't play much on them, he was fascinated watching older kids (7/8+) climb on the "rock climbing" rope structure..its basically a tightrope between two kid friendly "rocks" and there are a couple of these around the park for kids to play on/in. There are tons of things for kids of all ages to safely do while in the fully...

This review is for the soccer fields not the playground (the playground is great by the way, 4.5 stars).

These fields are absolutely filthy due to the plastic/rubber pellets that are supposed to simulate real grass and due to the dust they create. I've played on artificial turf many times and these pellets are always a mess getting into the environment all around the fields and all your gear, but these fields are particularly bad. Your soccer ball will be gray after playing on these fields because they of the the gray plastic dust. If you ever fall or lay on the field, your skin and clothes will be covered in the dust. I can't imagine that all that plastic/rubber dust plus any outgasing vapors coming off all that plastic (especially in those rare hot SF days) is good for you. When you add in, especially in the early fall before the rains start and when it hasn't rained in 6 months, all the other filth that has accumulated in the fake plastic grass (spit, blood, sweat, spilled food and drinks, etc), these fields are some of the worst to play on. These fields need to be torn out and replaced with...

Sh! Don't snitch me out to the Man over this. For the past few years, I've been compelled to dwell in my van with my beloved pet kitty, Garedy Cat. She & I would regularly visit this park after dark when the dog walkers were in bed & every morning after my daily dose at the adjacent clinic.

When she suddenly & tragically expired just last week, Feb 12, sans benefit of a clear diagnosis (despite five increasingly desperate trips to sf SPCA since Xmas to figure out why she appeared to be going downhill so quickly) this is where I elected to rest my sweet baby. So I can still visit her every day after I dose.

So, if u see a women crying over a patch of dirt near the enclosed playground, pls don't go all "Karen" on me just to have her removed & disposed of like trash. She's not garbage & she's not hurting anything where she is.

That wasn't actually even the spot I really wanted; it just wound up being the only place I could dig down far enough into that wasn't choked thru with woody roots is why she's there. 😿💔😭🤞🤫 Long May U Rest In Peace, my Precious Pet Baby. 😇👻🌈🐈🐈‍⬛ I'll never stop...
