I visited Aspen Medical Center on December 4th; I'm 49 with a 9 month old infant.. who is my heart and my life. I have the resources to to any medical center, but chose this one because when I called ahead the friendly person who answered said their wait was between 1 to 2 hours. the other centers in town had a minimum of 2 hour wait. When we got there, the staff was super friendly and got my papework done.. We arrive at 4:30 and were finally seen after 7. The intake nurse was also lovely. And played with daughter.
We decided to go, and I brought my nanny, because the night before the room began spinning; I was dizzy, and with the sleep deprivation, nursing through the nights, I was worried it was my blood pressure or blood sugar. And my daughter showed some symptoms of possible ear infection and diarrhea. The doctor was the worst doctor I think I've ever consulted with in my entire prenatal, pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience. When she did see us, she insisted on seeing my daughter first, even Felice was happy as a lark, gregarious as usual, and chatting with everyone. She checked her ears and saw no issues. Good news. But every time I expressed a worry or concern, she out of hand said there was nothing. And I was wrong to be concerned and didn't let me even say what so worrisome. I didn't finish the appointment... I'd taken some waking blood sugar numbers, having had gestational diabetes during pregnancy, this was familiar to me, and started to let her know what those were along with some thyroid bloodwork. She was more interested in how I came about the bloodwork than what the results were. It was an ordeal to be there, from start to finish. My daughter, overtired, and rightly so, from being in the waiting room for 2.5 hours, cried and because hysterical the entire car ride home, from Zafarano to Baca street. I will never, ever visit this clinic again. And would advise the managers/owners to find doctors who are compassionate and open to hearing their patients' concerns even when they are busy, and overbooked. Otherwise, dont' be an urgent care doctor. Be a desk clerk. Somewhere where you have no patients who are relying on your to be caring and concerned and provide...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was interrogated rudely by my doctor when came in with severe sore throat and esophagus from acid due to hiatal hernia. First Dr didn't believe I had hernia and asked why I didn't have current medicine for ulcer on med list. I told her nobody asked me to update it. Then asked why gi couldn't prescribe numbing mouthwash I was requesting. Or why any other Dr couldn't. So I asked my boyfrie bynd to confirm what I was saying was true. Then sdr said she prescribed mouthwash and when went to pharmacy nothing was there. I called Aspen and the girl answered said she would have provider send in another script. I waited another 2 hours at pharmacy and nothing came in. So I showed up at office. And was embarrassed in front of waiting area that my boyfriend came in and was rude if the script wasn't there they couldn't do anything. Kinda like "oh well it's your fault cuz he verified u had hernia, so we will pretend to call it in. They wouldn't give me physical scriot or call pharmacy. Kept arguing with me and wouldn't let me talk to anyone higher. Said Dr that saw me was gone and nothing they could do. Then to make himself look good said he would have it sent to better pharmacy and afyer 6 hours of driving to 3 pharmicies and going into Aspen twice they never sent it for 3rd time. After the knowing how sick I was I even brought in medical proof and still wasted my time. Horrible smell in medical room. It had a urine smell on seat. I cleaned with my sanitizer and both chair seats were filthy. Most staff sat around talking and gossipping for the 2 hours I sat waiting to see Dr. And most of all very disrespectful to lie and put me thru this for 6 hours. They have no patient privacy standards or respect . I filed grievance to make sure they do not get PD for that day. It was big joke to them to get upset cuz my boyfriend defended my medical reputation. And they still made me take strep test and think I was lying I was spitting blood and throat raw. 0 stars. Room dirty...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFront desk staff was lovely. Wait time was good. Facilities were clean. The doctor I saw was incompetent and disrespectful. He misdiagnosed me at first after barely taking a look at my symptoms, then prescribed me hydrocortisone cream without warning me about birth defect risks, despite me being 22 weeks pregnant. After having a bad reaction to the cream and realizing his diagnosis didn't match my symptoms, I returned to see him again later in the day. This time he brought in a nurse who, to her credit, was not as dismissive or rude as him. However, he stood by his bad diagnosis and his bad prescription. He refused to hear me out or explain why he disagreed with what i thought was happening, despite the fact that I had three different symptoms of low platelet levels in my blood. He even denied that it was possible for me to have a bad reaction to the cream, despite the fact that it caused the affected area to burn and worsened the symptoms. He continually interrupted me and diminished all of my concerns. They begrudgingly offered to test my blood the next day, despite the fact that my symptoms were spreading rapidly and in this context I needed immediate medical attention just in case.
I ended up having to go to the St. Vincent ER just to have my platelet levels tested, despite the fact that testing platelet levels in the second trimester is an incredibly reasonable request. The doctor at St. Vincent agreed that my symptoms looked petechial and told me I did the right thing by coming in. He agreed that that the original diagnosis and prescription were inappropriate, and later we laughed together in disbelief at this Aspen doctor's behavior.
If you have an infection, illness, or injury and you know what the problem is, this place is a great option for you. If you're pregnant or need some kind of assessment/diagnosis, run away from this place. You will be misdiagnosed and/or prescribed medications that can cause permanent developmental damage to your...
