Stayed at the Doubletree in Santa Fe this past weekend. This place...let me tell you. So, we were running late checking in being that we were driving aaaaall the way from Los Angeles, CA. The hotel calls us and asks if we are still planning on using our reservation. We tell them yes, all is well, and hang up. We arrive to the hotel, check in, have a bite out of a nice cookie and it all begins begins spiraling downward.
Our party had reserved a two bed room, and low and behold once we get to our room it is a single bed. NOBODY thought to mention this when they called us, or even while we were staring them in the face while checking in! Not a "Oh hey, all we have is a one bed.", not a "F--- you.", nothing. We had to be surprised to find out all they have is a one bed once we got to the room and called them! Nobody had either the courage or the brain power to tell us before we checked in (or when they called to confirm the reservation) expecting to receive exactly what we paid for ahead of time.
Since there are 4 adults in our party, one bed will not do. We call all of the other hotels in the area (by this time it is after 3AM) and they are all full. We call thr front desk at double tree and ask for a rollaway bed because it looks like we're stuck for the night. This lady with terrible attitude comes and knocks at our door and she has the rollaway which is about hobbit size.
She spends a good 10 minutes trying to maneuver it in while in an apparent drunken stupor, smashing it against the walls and disturbing the other patrons over and over. We ask the housekeeper who just brought the bed to bring two extra towels as the room is not equipped for a party of our size. She huffs very loudly, drags her feet and says "...ok..." before leaving and shutting the door louder than needed.
We finally get our towels and begin taking turns in the broken shower, smacking ourselves against the grab bars since surprise, the only room they had left was a room for the disabled. The shower doesn't drain either, so we had to stand in a puddle of our own filth while bathing. We finish up our hygiene, figure out which one of us has to SLEEP ON THE FLOOR, and bed down for the rest of the morning since, by now, it was nearing 5AM.
Th next morning we find out that they had charged a $600 hold on the card without telling us about it first! We asked them to change the card to charge the room to when we checked in and it was charged to the wrong card! Now the night manager has our credit card information written down, as well as a copy of the photo ID for the cardholder, and all we can do is wait for fraudulent charges to start appearing because the day manager is clueless and is uninterested in investigating the issue!
If you read this review and you STILL stay at this hotel, I hope you like the worst of the worst because this is it, and they charge a lot for the steaming pile they are about to drop...
Read moreMy husband and I drove fromm Denver to enjoy and support a friend participating in the Indian market. We arrived late in the afternoon, checked in, threw our bags in the room and immediately left to meet or friend. We came back around 10pm. This is when I realized that the bathroom was very dirty. It smelled badly of human odors and filth. At this point I began to look closely and notice dried urine on the toilet base, there was debris and hair in the shower and the walls. The wall across from the toilet has an ironing board attached. I removed it any saw what appears to be either dried blood, or fecal matter. This put me greatly on edge and with the hot being so late, I checked the bed, it was tolerable, and we just went to sleep. In the morning you could see how filthy the carpet is and the pieces of food stuck to the walls in various places. It was just gross. I understand what a busy weekend this is but for $300 per night, I'd hoped for at least a clean bathroom. My husband made mention to the front desk as we departed, that the room was not clean. The desk person was very polite and said that they'd be sure to have someone take care of that. I'm wondering if they didn't understand to what level, this room was not clean. After getting home I placed a call to their corporate line. I was avoiding writing a review until someone with authority could possibly do something to help others avoid this unsanitary situation. They took my information about the experience and I never heard a word back. I sent a follow up asking if they'd seen the photos and no response. Their cookies are great but the room we paid too much for was disgusting. *We ended up traveling the next month to the southeast and stayed at another Hilton in Bowling Green KY. This bathroom was also very dirty. I bought my own cleaner and cleaned it myself. It seems as if there's a low level of expectations for cleanliness with this company. We also stayed at the Westin and it was IMMACULATE. Get it together...
Read moreClean, quiet, comfortable. The Double Tree by Hilton is centrally located in Santa Fe, on a busy road - yet it feels a bit isolated in a very good way - quiet and comfortable. We arrived on a Friday and were greeted with a smile and warm cookies. Checking in (we had reservations) was quick and streamlined. Our room was exactly what we had hoped for - secluded and quiet. Our room had a small balcony with chairs and a table, two beds, a large flat panel television, a sizeable fridge, a microwave, coffee/tea maker, and a bathroom with a separate sink area. The furniture and art was comfortable and seemed to be recently updated. The beds were very comfortable, and the pillows were perfectly soft - I'm a picky pillow person, and I really liked to combination of soft and heavy. The only slightly negative thing worth mentioning is that our room didn't seem to have a single USB outlet. We're used to needing more than a few, so we always bring our own. Not everyone does, though, so it is something to consider. This was incredibly minor, though. The surroundings, staff, and service more than made up for the lack. The hotel itself is decorated in Pueblo style, with desert colors. Southwestern art, including a display of Kachina dolls are on display throughout. Coffee and bowls of crisp apples were available at all times in the lobby, and there is a large table near the lobby fireplace being used by guests as an office-away from home. The effect is a feeling of being welcomed - we were happy to return every evening. There is a hot tub and a swimming pool on the main floor - the pool is not too deep, perfect for laps. The pool is partly inside, partly outside, and the water was cool, but not cold on the first of September. We had a busy weekend, and didn't get to visit the restaurant or the bar, but will when we return in a few months. Centrally located; quiet, clean, and comfortable - we're glad we...
