Coastal Vibe Vacations — Attraction in Santa Rosa Island

We visited the panhandle of Florida for the first time and booked our stay through Coastal Vibe Vacations. We stayed at Destin West, Pelican 401 on Oskaloosa Island. Destin West has a Bay Side and an Ocean Side which I really had not taken notice of before I booked. I would have preferred to have stayed on the Ocean side but with that being said, the Bay Side had its perks, too! The Bay is beautiful for watching sunrises and sunsets and the Lazy River is on the Bay Side. The walkway over the highway to get to the Ocean Side is so nice and it is only a 10-minute walk, at most, to get to the Ocean. We also enjoyed the pool on the Ocean Side. It is worth every penny (it was very reasonable) to rent chairs and an umbrella when you go to the beach and you can rent them right on the beach! There are so many restaurants and little shops within walking distance and you can walk to the pier and to the aquarium. I sometimes have knee problems but the walk was doable for me. Pelican 401 was a very nice condo. Very clean and it was stocked with just about everything you could need. They even provided a wagon to use to take the provided beach chairs and other items for the beach. They even provided paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, dish soap, garbage bags and dishwasher/laundry soap to get you thru the week. Every little bit helps to save on your grocery bill. We placed an order from the WalMart in Ft. Walton before we left home and they delivered it on our first day. There is also a convenience store right next door to the condo complex on the bay side for any items that you forget. We flew into Destin/Ft. Walton airport and used a ride service from the airport to the condo (around $50) and we used Uber to go to dinner three nights (Stewby's, McGuires and our longest trip to Pompano Joe's). All three restaurants had great food. I would definitely stay in Pelican 401 again! The group at Coastal Vibe Vacations always answered any questions that we had very promptly. The booking process was very easy to do online, payment was easy and they gave us lots of information about restaurants and things to do in our area. They were great...

I wanted to share a buyer beware with the management company(Mountain Vibe Vacations - Coastal Vibe Vacations is the parent company) we used for the 5 bedroom home we rented in the Watersong neighborhood in Ellijay which is listed on both vacation websites. After the fact, I realized you can't review Mountain Vibe Vacations on facebook or google( I didn't know you could turn that off).

First we are not high maintenance and when we arrived we overlooked the trash not being picked up with trash sitting outside the containers to prevent bears, the hot tub not being clean and one of the fireplaces didn't work. Later that night, our socks/feet were black from the floors being dirty. When we got into the bed that night, we lifted the covers and got a smell of BO from the bedding. 🤢 Yes, the sheets/bedspread were dirty!! Also, several of the bath towels had the same odor. The next morning, I washed the sheets/bedding and towels. The bed spread in one of the other rooms had a stain on it. I contacted the management company the next day and spoke with one of the owners of the company, who is also the owner of the property - he gave lots of apologies and excuses. They offered to send the cleaning crew back out(and refund the cleaning fee and small additional amount), and after some discussion with the family, we agreed but didn't have high expectations. The floors were still dirty after they came back to "clean"(see paper towel picture). Once you start looking around, you see dust/dirt everywhere, one of the kitchen doors is falling off, and the screen door is ripped. Also, the washer stopped working(error message, check inlet hose/water) towards the end of the week with no call back from the management company.

Again, we don't expect it to be perfect, but they are not maintaining/cleaning their property, and obviously, they have turned off their Google and FB reviews for a reason. When you look at their website lots of 5 stars however we never got a link to review the property 🤔 There are tons of management companies in the area and we will definitely be visiting Ellijay/Blue Ridge again but using...

So if they had partial stars I would go with 3.5. Waterscape B606 June 2022 stay. Waterscape is a nice complex with several pools and a lazy river. It’s a kids place. We have been many times. The unit we normally rent was sold and we needed a new unit. We picked B606 for the views and with it’s price tag we expected it to be upscale.

We arrived and the unit was not fully clean. We were told at 3:30pm it was ready. We arrived around 4:30pm. The master bathroom toilet was not cleaned. It had hair and many stains (#2 stains). The floor had lots of hair and the tub was not cleaned. I called and another cleaner was sent. I appreciated that. There were many other dirty issues that I cleaned myself. (The washer had hair and sand all over it right by where they set two laundry pods, the bathroom walls and maintenance closet were very dusty, many of the baseboards had a nice coat of dust/hair, I wiped a lot if things down myself.) I was not cleaning a bathroom myself. Our pool/complex wristbands were not left in the unit. Luckily the second cleaner had some for us.

The unit had maintenance issues. Two lightbulbs burned out, torn curtains, balcony door from 2nd bedroom did not open, dirty throw pillows, deadbolt did not work well (and if you did get it locked it was very hard to unlock), several rusty spots in master bathroom sinks, drying rack extremely old and almost unusable, corroded batteries in fire alarms. The paint job in the unit was poorly done and paint was flaking on many of the doors. Maintenance did come out one day and fixed the fire alarm batteries (to stop the chirping) and acknowledged other items.

Positives: ac worked well, beds were good for a condo, bathrooms were spacious, view was nice, when I called with issues they were addressed—cleaning bathroom and chirping fire alarm.
