The Santee Trolley Station offers a convenient transportation hub for residents and visitors.
First and foremost, one of the standout features of the Santee Trolley Station is the scarce presence of homeless individuals. This creates a more comfortable and secure environment for commuters.
When it comes to dining options, the area surrounding the station boasts a variety of places, making it a great place to grab a bite before or after your journey.
I am excited to see what will replace the old Bed Bath & Beyond. I hope it is a grocery store…hint hint maybe, Trader Joe’s.
However, it's worth noting that the empty restaurant space that was once Mimi's Cafe remains unoccupied. Hopefully, a new establishment will occupy this space soon, providing even more dining options for passengers passing through.
One drawback if you are taking the trolly from Santee into San Diego is the lengthy travel time to downtown San Diego. Clocking in at close to an hour, the commute can be quite time-consuming. This is an aspect that may deter some commuters seeking a quicker route to their destinations. However, it's important to consider the convenience and affordability of trolley transportation compared to other options.
On a positive note, the station itself is kept clean and well-maintained. This contributes to a pleasant atmosphere and enhances the overall experience for commuters. Additionally, the availability of ample parking is a significant advantage, making it easier for those who prefer to drive to access the trolley system.
In conclusion, the Santee Trolley Station provides a convenient and clean transportation hub with a few noteworthy highlights. The limited presence of homeless individuals, a range of nearby dining options, and the availability of ample parking make it an appealing choice for commuters. However, the lengthy travel time to downtown San Diego and the empty restaurant space could be areas for improvement. Despite these drawbacks, the Santee Trolley Station remains a viable option for those seeking reliable and affordable transportation...
Read moreThere are plenty of good stores here! That is why it got 1 star. Some of the businesses are "Mom and Pop Shops", they are the backbone of our country. That is why I gave 2 more stars!
However, the layout sucks. If you do not already know where a store is located, it will be difficult to find. The parking lot is artificially divided into awkward sections; you may be able to see the store you want, but figuring how to "park close to it" can be a challenge.
The strange layout, along with the uncompromising and nonflexible parking controls, create several areas that are dangerous design flaws.
Also, the trolly runs through the center of the parking lot. The awkward sectioning, the haphazard layout of buildings, and 2 cramped railroad stop lights all work together to engender confusion and frustration. The interior stop lights have no "rhyme or reason" to them. They turn Red when there is no trolly, apparently to create traffic hazards.
Add this to the eggrigious use of (11) stop lights in the 1 mile of road going around that area and you have something of a built in road-rage area.
To be fair, The "floor plan" of the shopping center is quite lovely to look down on. But, since we rarely approach the stores from an Arial View, it is just so much artwork that makes using the center unpleasant.
I live only a mile away. Sometimes it is just easier to travel the extra 7 miles to...
Read moreI really like Trolley Square. It is a nice clean outdoor plaza with quite a few shops. They made efficient use of the space and it is laid out much nicer than a boring strip mall. I don't shop at Target anymore but I visit Famous Footware, Bed Bath & Beyond, Oggi's Anny's, Daphne's, Panda Express, Olive Garden, Chili's and best of all PHIL'S! There is always parking. Sometimes it is more crowded in front of some of the shops but you never have to walk too far. When my son was really young I would take him on trolly adventures because as you know the trolly STARTS in Santee. ;) It really is convenient riding the trolly from here because it is a pretty safe place to leave your vehicle. We do this whenever we go to Petco Park or Qualcomm Stadium.
I haven't really attended any of the concerts at the amphitheater but my son used to have a blast here playing in the water fountain. I'm not sure if they still run that anymore. We just go to shop now and don't really hang out like we did when...
