I frequent this target, since Santee has a lower sales tax than my home city, of El Cajon. I predominately get groceries at this store, since I have a red card, and save the 5 percent, on top of the already decent prices. I really like their vegan salad kits, which I get for my lunches, and I like the non dairy selection for milk, and I even found a non dairy, almond milk egg nog, when I went there today. We also get the larabar 18 count bars here, for only $15.99. The employees in the grocery area are also very personable, and will usually help me out. My only complaint is that I have a difficult time finding my size of clothes in the men's dept. I wear a size 34 waist pant with 34 inseam, and I couldn't find my size. They also don't usually have xl sweatshirts or shirts. I don't know if this is because my size is popular, or if they just don't get it in. But, that is just an inventory issue and shouldn't take away from the store's score. The people in electronics are also very knowledgeable and personable. We were looking at the limited selection of sound bars and we had our questions answered promptly and efficiently, such a big plus. We also buy our cats' wet food at this location. The supply is pretty limited, just like every other store in the area, but you can't beat the prices. This is probably my favorite store to go to. I even went there on my birthday, this year, since I had the day off. They do have self checkout, but only for 15 items, or less, so if self checkout is your thing, know that, before going, though they do have a sign posted. They always have carts at the front; the staff is very friendly; the store is usually very clean; my only complaint is the men's...
Read moreAs a San Diego native and black male, I've always steered clear of Santee and El Cajon for the most part. Most in my demographic would agree - Klantee...no explanation needed.
I purchased over $500 of Zevo bug spray, both green and purple cans. I checkout at self-checkout pay for everything and bag up. Upon exiting, a young, white, female employee, quickly walks over to me and demands to see my receipt. I'm blown away. I'm thinking to myself - Are you not aware that I'm the only black male in here, every single kiosk is occupied, there is a line, and for some reason (racist reason), you come straight up to me and demand my receipt? Insane. Like a deer in headlights, I initially just froze in shock and stared at her. I snapped out of it, and without saying a word, I attempted to maneuver my cart around her. She physically jumped in front of me and got on her walkie-talkie requesting security to the front. Shocked and humiliated, I relented and aggressively put my receipt in her face and called her a crazy B. I remember feeling so defeated as I have been experiencing racial profiling to a degree that some would probably jump off a cliff. Another older, Asian male employee witnessed the whole thing and walked me out while profusely apologizing for his coworker's behavior. That did make me feel a little better, at least someone understood what I was feeling. I came back in to speak to a manager. He was a white guy who somewhat mocked me and didn't seem to care as he smiled while stating, "I just got here so I don't know what's going on." This was...
Read moreTL;DR despite living in Santee, I prefer to drive to La Mesa. This store isn't accessible, it's not good for boys' clothes. And they allow solicitors to harass patrons.
They constantly have this one guy soliciting outside. Despite the entire shopping center stating that soliciting is not allowed. They never make him leave. He is rude and harasses people that refuse to sign his "issue of the day". You cannot enter the store without walking past him. He blocks the trash can at the entrance. Because they refuse to have him removed, I will be going to this location. I would rather drive to La Mesa than continue to be harassed by this guy.
The store is not really wheelchair accessible. They have too much stuff in the isles. If you use an accessibility device, you need someone abled to assist you.
Don't shop here for boys clothes. The boys department is 1/3 the size of the girls department. There are more little girl dress shoes in the boys department, than there are boys shoes. They are constantly out of items.
Management does not care about any of these issues. They are aware of them, and will give you excuses and platitudes. They don't care about accessibility. They don't care about the soliciting...
