Haven't posted for awhile, but this place is worthy of a good review so here goes... I have to say I was not expecting much so my expectations were low. However if my expectations were high they still would have been exceeded. LOGISTICS: Great location with ample parking. Inside is fairly large for a restaurant at a strip mall. Very clean and sleek design inside, and the outside bar/patio has a garage-style sliding window for bar seating outside as well as inside so you can watch tv from pretty much anywhere. Average-sized patio that was easy to navigate without bumping into other patrons. Menu is easy to read and designed so it's simple to quickly navigate to your favorite dish. Prices are average. Full bar with craft cocktails which I'm sure will be a huge hit for early sports games as this place closes at 2 p.m. FOOD: I ordered the Country Skillet which I give overall 4.5 stars! Plating was cleanly done and the staff even brought my food directly from the kitchen so it was nice-n-hot. Eggs were cooked to order just right and it took only 10 minutes to get my food which I think is awesome considering the dining room was about half-full of guests. Portion size was above average (2 could share if yer both only a "little bit" hungry). Flavor was fantastic and I could tell all the ingredients were fresh. Coffee was hot, brewed perfectly and of course, fresh - what else can you say about coffee! SERVICE: The staff was quick to take my order and checked on me several times during my 45-minute stay. Polite, groomed well, and they all seemed to be working as a seasoned team which surprised me as this place only recently opened. I met the owner and I soon understood why - he is a REAL people-person and I observed him working hand-in-hand with the Team and unafraid to get his hands dirty with them. OVERALL: Broken Yolk in Santee is a HUGE HIT! They will rival the few battling restaurants in the Santee area and I have no doubt they are going to be around for a long time. My overall opinion is that if yer lookin for a fun, casual and clean place in East County to have breakfast or lunch, this is the place to go! I just hope they can keep it up as their benchmark is already super high. Keep up the hard work Broken...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things! I’ve patronized many of the BYC in and around San Diego and I’ve never been disappointed but if I’m being honest I’ve never been “wowed”. Santees location is a different story.
We waited about 10min on a Saturday at noon (great if you ask me! and as a side not the staff said “it would be about 20 min, likely a lot shorter” so their system is definitely not over promising but over delivering which is great). The greeting staff had nothing but smiles on (knowing how busy this place must have been earlier, having staff that can dig through the trenches of a busy service and come out at the end smiling, means something), they had a young lady wiping down the windows and doors, she was smiling, holding the door open for comers and goers, with salutations along the way.
When we sat down we were greeted by (I asked later) the co-owner who was super friendly, we had an engaging conversation about the establishment opening, he grabbed our drink order and was off to assist his staff (great to see owners who aren’t there for the profit and actually work). Our waitress (I didn’t grab her name and the online receipt doesn’t have it… darn) was great. She was attentive, punctual and accurate with our order. She also engaged us in some light banter as well which was nice. At the end she explained there was an app, walked us through all the great reasons to use it, never once has any of the other BYCs we’ve been to advised us of this.
I’ve had some epically terrible service at local establishments recently. I actually said to my wife, places like this give me hope that service based businesses can be awesome and employees still do want to actually provide stand-up service.
Bravo to the staff all around but especially the owners for cultivating an...

Service, food, and environment are always great and clean.
I was there when one of the owners Billy from Philly talked to a customer about an order that wasn’t right. Billy did not hesitate to figure out the issue and bring the solution in a professional, respectful, and timely manner!
Wait time can be 45- 60 minutes on certain days at certain times. Mainly weekends are the busy days , but they do have their waves. My family and I just go to target or one of the near by stores (less than 5 minutes away) and get things we need to, kill time. There’s a reason the wait is long and many people keep going there. You should swing by and check it out yourself!
I always see the owner Billy from Philly there checking on not only the guests, but his staff to. Going back and forth, in and out, and stopping by tables saying hi and checking how we’re doing and making the kids laugh. I say that about Billy, but this goes for the staff and the other owners as well!
Such a great, clean, and real environment with food always tasting great.
Food we tried: Belgium waffle, Pancakes, French Toast, and The Rancho Skillet(with ground beef instead of pork). We’ve ordered other food, but these are our go-to.
Drinks tried: Matcha Green Tea! Both iced and hot are both great!
Everything taste great! And If there’s ever any problems, you can always just let your server know!
This is my opinion only and a review of my experience. Hope this...
